Cormeng's Grand Emporium of Antiques and Pawnshop

From The Wandering Inn Wiki

Cormeng's Grand Emporium of Antiques and Pawnshop is a magical pawnshop. Created by Cormeng, a Rulebreaker who could use magic, it is currently run by his descendant, Doren Issk.

Overview edit edit source

Erin stared at racks of old, very worn clothing. At gemstones on display and more jewelry than she could imagine that appeared fancy and rich—until you realized it was all cut glass. At old farming tools, rusted with age, dolls of every shape and size across hundreds of years, signs, actual signs for the buildings they belonged to were long since gone, a thousand useless maps and illustrations crammed into a bin, decidedly non-magical books like the 4th book in a series with half a torn cover, a shoe with dirt on it, fake decorative items like one of those snowglobes—without the water inside and the snow—
Inventory of Cormeng's Grand Emporium[1]

Cormeng's Grand Emporium is the largest pawn shop in the world, filled with a vast and eclectic assortment of items. The shop is enchanted to teleport to any location Cormeng once visited, and has over one hundred and twenty access points in Terandria and Izril. However, visitors can only depart from the place they originally entered.[2] While the majority of the store's inventory is mostly cheap junk, between breakages and the sheer number of visitors from multiple locations, the shop earns a considerable profit. They also appraise and buy items.

A requirement of owning the shop is that the owner can't have a class, otherwise the shop will appear to a random Rulebreaker. The owner has the ability to set restrictions on destinations and who is allowed to shop, and have the shop suppress Skills and spells within. The store prevents [Thieves] and those of ill intent from entering, but it has difficulty keeping out high-level people, though finding it deliberately is more trouble than it's worth, with even Nerrhavia remarking "Of every venue in the world, this one was hardest to reach." In times of danger, the shop will automatically lock its door for an hour and shift to a different location. There are automatic extinguishing spells in case of a fire, and a water supply from an enchanted sink and reservoir, suspected to use rainwater from an unknown source.[3]

Its logo is a little pig with a wand coming out of its mouth.[2]
