Crystal Lights

From The Wandering Inn Wiki

Crystal Lights are a type of glass monster with a center eye. They inhabit the Glass Straits of Chandrar.[1]

Appearance[edit | edit source]

They look like a shining, crawling, five-foot-tall monster, with six legs, glass ‘skin’, a single huge eye, an open maw below the eye, and two pincers. Behind the glass ‘skin’, their internal organs are exposed to the light without any harm. When exposed in sunlight, their body shines with a painful light.[1]

Threat Assessment[edit | edit source]

While a single Crystal Light would probably rate in the high-Silver, a group of 60 could threaten a city. 60 of them could even take down a hundred plus Zombies and Ghouls without any trouble, or even kill six hundred people in the open if they got the chance to keep firing.[1]

Powers/Abilities[edit | edit source]

Heat-Eye Beams[edit | edit source]

Their most deadly attack which consists of shooting rays of concentrated sunlight hot enough to turn sand to glass. They do this by feeding on the light, by absorbing it with their glass ‘skin’, and focus it into their single eye. They have a range of a hundreds of feet away. Once a beam is shot they can shoot another in less than six seconds.

While non-flammable materials, like bones, are somewhat the most immune to the beam, they can still be blasted apart in seconds, by heating them so fast that the bones crack from the sheer heat.[1]

Thermal Vision[edit | edit source]

They can see someone's body heat, even if they were under the effect of an invisibility spell.[1]

Glass Armor[edit | edit source]

Their glass ‘skin’ is quit durable, as cutting it with a blade is like trying to cut through iron armor, and can take down a powerful beating before the glass shatters.[1]

Heat Resistance[edit | edit source]

They can withstand incredible heat without bother. Rather, the heat is focused into their single eye to power their Heat-Eye Beam attack.[1]

Bite[edit | edit source]

They have an open maw below the eye that could tear and bite.[1]

Intelligence[edit | edit source]

They have shown to be smart enough to actually forming a battle line and discharging beams of light at a single target.[1]

Weaknesses[edit | edit source]

Slow Movements[edit | edit source]

The are quite slow, being slower than horses. This allows others to outride them on horseback, even with wagons.[1]

Eye[edit | edit source]

While the center eye is their most dangerous form of attack, it is also their most vulnerable spot, as stabbing them in the eye would injure them. Unfortunately this would not kill them as the brain isn’t behind the eye, instead suspended above it.[1] It is unknown if the eye can heal with time or not?

Lack of Sunlight[edit | edit source]

As they need to be exposed in direct sunlight to be able to shoot the beam of heat ray, the luck of it, like during the night or being in a sandstorm would significantly weaken them.[1]

[Shatterbolt] Spell[edit | edit source]

Being struck with a [Shatterbolt] Spell, even on the side of their body, is deadly as it will cause their entire glass body to break and their insides rupture.[1]

[Deathbolt] Spell[edit | edit source]

Being hit by a [Deathbolt] Spell is effective on them as the Spell goes through their glass armor, and while a single hit would not kill a Crystal Light, it is enough to force it to retreat.[1]
