Chapter 4.49

The Grand Queen is (nominally) the absolute ruler over all the Antinium located in Izril.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

The Grand Queen is far larger than the Queen of the Free Antinium. She is massive, bloated, and rests on a huge dais in the center in the room of her hive.[1]

Personality[edit | edit source]

Lady Magnolia suspects that the Grand Queen doesn't gamble with fate like all other powerful factions on Izril do. Instead, “she only takes safe bets with acceptable risks.”[2] Her way of thinking has been influenced, making her believe she rules the Queens rather than leading them as first among equals.[3]

Background[edit | edit source]

The Grand Queen on Izril is not the first Grand Queen (who is a legendary figure that reached level 79 as [Supreme Matriarch])[4]. She only got to her current rank after the Antinium were stranded on Izril. She used to be a young ingenue in the corps of Queens assigned to overseeing supply lines and distribution, and took command when all of the more important and experienced Queens died at sea.[5]

There are six Queens in Izril under the command of the current Grand Queen. Under her aegis, they pursue peace at the moment, at least until the Grand Queen is certain that her victory would not weaken the Antinium. Izril is not what the Antinium seek, as they ultimately intend to retake Rhir. The Grand Queen is supposed to be privy to every Hive’s secrets,[4] but the Free Queen is not the only one who is distrustful of her, secretly defies her and pursues her own schemes instead.[6]
