Rhir

Rhir, also known as the Blighted Continent, is the smallest and northernmost continent in Innworld. Described as the most deadly land in the world, Rhir is overrun with magical corruption, locked in perpetual war, and stalked by monsters born from the Sleeping Demigod.
Overview edit edit source
The three major powers in Rhir are the Blighted Kingdom, the Demons and the Antinium. The Blighted Kingdom and the Demons have been stalemated in constant conflict for thousands of years, while the Antinium have acted as the guardians to the Sleeping Demigod.
Beyond the endless war between the Blighted Kingdom and the Demons, Rhir is ravaged by the Blight—a magical corruption that warps plants, animals, and even people. While it is still possible to grow crops and raise livestock outside the Kingdom’s walls, the corruption seeps into everything. Most food remains safe for only a year at best before strange, often disturbing changes occur—such as an eye appearing in a block of cheese.[1] Over thousands of years, the Blighted Kingdom have terraformed their lands into stretches of verdant greenery.[2]
Much of the continent is uninhabitable, overrun by roaming monsters that emerge from Monarch’s Pass, the heart of Rhir’s corruption and the place where a sleeping demigod dreams beneath the surface. Even in the dead lands, the ghosts of those who died in Rhir do not appear.
History edit edit source
During the war against the Gods, a demigod was struck down, and was buried under Rhir. Alive, but weakened, the demigod slumbered for millennia, its dreams spewing as monsters and other beings.
Rhir has had several cataclysms and blights originate from it.
Over twelve thousand years ago, the Infernal Court, ruled by the Lucifen, was the dominant ruling power in Rhir. but they became so corrupt that they were exiled[3] ten thousand years ago.[4]
Rhir was once abandoned, save for the Antinium developing their civilization underground, other nations decided that the continent was best left alone. This would prove to be a mistake with the previous cataclysm to come from Rhir, the emergence of Crelers six thousand years ago, which began the Creler Wars.
[Archmages] tried to sink the continent during the Creler Wars, but it backfired.[3]
After a thousand years, the continent was reclaimed, and some of the heroes of the Creler Wars decided to found a kingdom there to keep watch and prevent another cataclysm from happening again. This would be the origin of the Blighted Kingdom, originally christened as the Kingdom of Blight's End.
The first major war to be waged on Rhir post-Creler Wars was between the Kingdom of Blight's End and the Soiretham who emerged seemingly out of nowhere. Later, the Blighted Knigdom would call for war against the newly formed Demon Kingdom, though their Archmage and two of its summoned allies, the Giants and the exiled Empire of Wings, would defect early on. The war has been ongoing into the present day.[5]
