The Faeblade, also called the Windsword, is a Hetshal-knife, an advanced futuristic weapon used by space-faring aliens of another universe as a standard sidearm for their tactical units.[1] Members of the alien race who were stranded in Avalon gifted one of those knives to Ryoka at the behest of Oberon.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

The Hetshal-knife looks like a hilt made for non-human hands, with larger forefingers and more rounded palms.[2] It is made of a dark-reddish material likened to a super-plastic, and has a glass-plexiglass covering on the handle. There are multiple buttons of different colors, marked with symbols that glow to the touch.[3]

Under the effect of Nerrhavia's Skill, its appearance changed to a black handle contoured for a human hand, emitting a white-black blade.[4]

Functions and Capabilities[edit | edit source]

The hilt is resilient to the point that a steel dagger won't leave a scratch on it. It has a high capacity power source which does not require recharging, and may cause a large explosion if ruptured.[5] It has an auto-grip function which can be turned off. It will deactivate automatically if the user relaxes their grip.[3]

With the press of a button, the hilt emits a blade of light. The blade is the length of a longsword and feels neither hot nor cold, and has a safety feature where it will stop short of harming the user[3] or morph around their body.[6]

The orange[3] (or pink)[7] blade of "hardlight" can cut any non-magical or enchanted material. The cuts it leaves are so fine and precise that they are sharp. It will shatter on contact with even the weakest enchantments, but can simply emit a new blade.[3]

The yellow blade passes through all material, including enchanted substances, without damaging it, but paralyses living creatures for a while.[8]

The knife has a flamethrower function, emitting a jet of flames.[9]

Squeezing the handle three times will bring up an interface in place of the blade, letting the user modify certain functions, access utilities, and grant privileges to others. It outlines sixty-eight options with their own sub-menus, and has a real-time translation feature. The "Communications" option allows the user to contact the forces of federation aliens if they are in range.[7]

If enhanced with a [Luminosity] enchantment, the blade is able to char a room with its presence alone. There is no safety feature that accounts for this interaction, so the user's life is also at risk.[6]

Its technology is too complex to be copied by a [Foundational Recreation of Mundanity] fueled by a Dragonlord's mana well.[5]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • In Avalon, the changing perspectives made it appears as a plastic toy knife.[10]
  • Other names pondered by Ryoka include the Lightsword, Hardlight blade, Sword of Light, and Techblade.[3]
  • To uninformed outsiders, the Faeblade is thought to be a custom-made Kaalblade built by House El.[11]
