Synopsis[edit | edit source]
Elena somehow steals Cara's overwhelming emotions. The [Singer's] trauma and pain from Afiele is reduced, but she feels like she's been hit by a truck.. Cara accuses Elena of stealing her emotions, but is unable to directly confront Elena without violating the Helpful Servant’s contract. Cara tries directly provoking her. Trying to catch Elena in a lie, she points out that stealing is a matter of perception. Using [One True Falsehood], she claims that she has [Fall Resistance], meaning that if she was thrown out of a building, she wouldn’t be hurt, so Cara asked Elena if being pushed out the window would violate the contract. Unexpectedly, Elena does push Cara out of the window. Seeing the [Singer’s] arm broken from the fall, Elena realizes she broke her contract, and begins wailing, calling to someone.
The other performers surround Cara, calling for a [Healer]. Amidst the pain, she notices everyone slowing down as if they are moving underwater, before coming to a halt. Cara realizes that something powerful and dangerous had stopped time. Thirteen Helpful Servants arrive, coming from different directions, all with same orange eyes with concentric rings instead of regular irises and pupils. They share the same consciousness, which introduces itself as “Belavierr” to Cara. The Helpful Servants take turns talking, realizing they leveled up and gained the [Immortal Moment] Skill, wondering where their daughter is, and mentioning “mice” that seemingly have eaten parts of their soul, Cara tries demanding for answers, asking about Elena and the Helpful Servants. Barely noticing the [Singer], one of the [Helpful Servants] examine Elena. Reading her memories, Belavierr discovers that something odd had happened in Afiele, and decides to go there after disposing of Elena. Alarmed, Cara tells Belavierr that she had tricked Elena, demanding that she be let go. Instead, Belavierr offers to fix Cara’s arm and to give Elena to the [Singer], threatening to make the Helpful Servant “vanish” if she doesn’t accept. Cara is forced to agree. Using needle and thread, Belavierr sews something in Cara’s tongue, which prevents her from talking about this meeting. She then uses the [Red String of Destiny] to somehow unbreak Cara’s bones before leaving.
With the [Immortal Moment] ended, the panicking performers are suddenly confused when Cara’s arm is whole again, seemingly having been never broken at all. Joeried decides to sweep the incident aside, more focused on the upcoming event at the Palace of Shadows. Elena is still the same, though her contract with Cara is now permanent. The [Singer] swears to find a way to free Elena, but has no clue how to confront Belavierr.
