Long Night

The Long Night refers to the period of three hundred years in Innworld when magic was dead. It is also referred to as the Twilight of Magic, the Age of Silence[1] and the Faded Times[2]
Overview edit edit source
You see—when magic died, enchantments waned away. History was lost as fail-safes made of magic disintegrated. But more than that—every magical species reliant on ambient mana and unable to produce their own was suddenly unable to consume what it needed to survive. Countless flora and fauna vanished, leaving holes in the ecosystems that led to further collapse and starvation of the living.
GDI Internal Monologue[[src]]
The Mage of Magic's End, a Level 93 [Archmage], attempted to reach for the heart of magic, in doing so hwoever he tore it out of the firmament, causing all magic to turn off in Innworld.
The consequences of the death of magic were beyond catastrophic:
- The population of the world was reduced by 60 percent during the centuries of the Long Night.[1]
- Worldwide ecosystems were destroyed because magical flora and fauna went extinct.[1]
- Seamwalkers climbed over the edge of the world very frequently because they did not have to fear magic.[3]
- Reproduction among sentient species was very high and it is implied a lot of <Category: Sex> Skills were created.[1]
- Monsters still existed during this time and were empowered by the lack of magic. Reference TBA
- The average level at the time was 34 including infants and children and 47 excluding all of them under 14.[1]
Magic was finally restored by Archmages who sacrificed themselves in the void to re-ignite magic. The first to do so was the Archmage of Sunlight, Ailet Sundrev, last [Lady] of House Sundrev of the dead Kingdom of Caonis.[4]
