Trivia[edit | edit source]

Quotes[edit | edit source]

  • To Cirille:
    • “The Tribes send their own pact-warriors to Rhir. We are to be under your command, no, Commander? So has said one of the [Generals]. So we obey.”
    • “My class is my class, Commander Cirille. It is not something the Walled Cities need to know.”
    • “I am pleased my class fits so well into your military boxes of understanding.”
  • (To Vorn) “In that case, I ask that you not sing before morning, yes? It would help for sleep.”
  • (To Cirille) “No. You should know, Commander Cirille. Is this Drake humor?”
  • (To Tom) “We’re not going to die. Human. If that’s what you are.”
  • To Cirille:
    • No one knows where the battle takes them!
    • “Some kind of humor. They do it every night. I thought it was wise to see. It is a ritual of this troupe.”
    • “That would be the Jadehammers Tribe. Them, over there. Stubborn as goats…damn. I think they heard me…”
    • “Commander! It’s incredible. Either I’m a Lizard—sorry, Uxel—or some of the Gnolls have developed Oldblood breath attacks.
  • (To the officers ) “How do they get so big, though? That cannot be a Skill, yes? What, do they grow overnight if she inducts them? Like mushrooms?”
  • (To Uxel, Viri and Paxhal) “It’s not just the cards. The lights went out four minutes ago. Did no one else…notice?”
  • (To Ikl) “Ikl, you’ll puff up if you bite it. I once had a tongue so big I had to breathe through my nose and keep my mouth open because it wouldn’t fit. For six hours straight.”
  • (Thoughts) I am not crazy. I’m not going mad. No—at least some of the madness is right. There are nightmares, even back home.
  • (To Xherw) “No, Xherw. There’s no redemption or forgiveness for some things. Not this.
  • (To Yelroan) “Xherw, Ulcreziek, and I never really understood you were so gifted, Yelroan. Take a job offer. Send money back if you want—but for once? Don’t let our tribe hold you back.”
