Minotaurs

From The Wandering Inn Wiki

Minotaurs are one of the Races of Innworld. They reside on the Isles of Minos, an archipelago that few visit.

Physiology[edit | edit source]

Appearance[edit | edit source]

They have fur and look somewhat similar to bovines, but don't like to be referred to as cattle or bulls. On average their height is below six foot seven.[1] Some Minotaurs have hooves while others have humanoid feet.[2]

Physical Qualities[edit | edit source]

Diet[edit | edit source]

They don't have a bovine physiology and don't eat grass - in fact, they can eat meat and don't shy away from eating beef, either.[3]

Magical Qualities[edit | edit source]

Minotaurs have barely any potential to use magic, but there are cases of some having achieved to learn 2nd tier spells.[4] Only very few of them ever become [Mages].[5]

Special Abilities[edit | edit source]

When enraged Minotaurs can enter into a state were they would lose all sense of control—but not reason, and their eyes would turn red. In this state they would become stronger and faster, just like a Selphid’s rampage.[6]

Behavior and Culture[edit | edit source]

Personality[edit | edit source]

Minotaurs are proud, honorable, touchy, and quick to anger, although they can stay polite for quite some time even when provoked.[5][3] They enjoy challenges and it is a sign of prestige in Minotaur culture to be a warrior — other classes are looked down upon. Minotaurs follow a strong code of honor which defines their entire culture.

They keep to themselves by and large, though some younger members of their species will travel abroad in search of fame and glory.[5]

They dislike secrets and prefer to do everything out in the open.[7]

History[edit | edit source]

They have fought in several recent wars against other continents and even tried to take over the world a few times. However, each time they have been repulsed.[5][8]

During Flos' campaign of world conquest, the Minotaurs of Minos ambushed Tottenval's fleets at sea and killed him.[9]

Relations[edit | edit source]

Goblins[edit | edit source]

Minotaurs feel a great enmity towards Goblins. The Isles of Minos and the Goblin Isle frequently clash, and Minotaurs keep track of notable Goblin forces around the world.[10]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • If there was a ranking for bad-tempered species, Minotaurs would probably be at the top of that list, competing for first place with Drakes and Centaurs.[11]
  • A good portion of Minotaurs often visit Izril.[12]
  • Minotaurs are experts in regards to labyrinths, or so the stereotype goes. There is a famous one in Calruz's homeland, but he doesn't especially like to be reminded of it.[13]
  • Minotaurs don't have surnames, and are instead identified by their region of origin (i.e. Calruz of Hammerad, Bezale of Maweil, etc..)
