He has light grey fur.[1]

Personality edit edit source

Nailren is very knowledgable and insightful concerning social issues and politics particularily of Gnoll tribes and Drake cities in Southern Izril.

His observations about people are insightful and he is a great conversationalist. He has also shown political savvy by talking Wil into suggesting to his family to make a binding peace treaty with the Gnolls.[2]

Furthermore, he is described as pragmatist, but he also shows a great degree of pride and loyalty to the Gnoll tribes or Gnolls in general.[2][3]

His desire to become an explorer of the New Lands and make full use of that gift by the Gnoll ghost speaks of a certain tendency to seek for glory.[2]

Background edit edit source

Nailren claims that he is the [Chieftain] the Fletchsing Tribe, a sub-tribe of the Hawkarrow Tribe which does not really exist. This is actually a cover for his clandestine actions, spying for the Gnoll tribes.[2] He has disbanded his team to go exploring the New Lands.[2]

By his own words, he is well-known among [Chieftains] and [Shamans].[2]

Chronology edit edit source

Volume 10 edit edit source

Nailren is exploring the New Lands with some other Gnolls. They have developed a method of hunting Landsharks and informed the Silver Swords that the monsters are scent killers. His group has faired fairly well in the New Lands due to consiting of [Hunters] or at least people capable of hunting.[4]

Quotes edit edit source

  • To Erin:
    • “Greetings, Miss Solstice. I am Nailren of the Fletchsing Tribe. We are adventurers. I am leader of my team—The Pride of Kelia. We thank you for  your hospitality and allowing us use of your door.”
    • “Is this Deki paste that I smell? On fried fish it seems? But what is the yellow-white things? And why do the fishes smell of flour and bread?”
  • To Gold-ranked Adventurers:
    • “Exactly. We have come for the dungeon. It is wrong of you to try and stop us. If it is death we seek, let us find it and fight it with tooth and claw.”
    • “It is perhaps best we met you so we could say it to your faces first, no? We will not abide by your rules. We will enter ourselves. And if you would stop us, then try.
  • (To Moore) “…Dead gods, Moore. You’re as fearsome as any [Shaman] of the tribes.”
  • (To Ylawes) “I wished to come to The Wandering Inn to ask Erin Solstice for advice—and to stock up on supplies and deliver the Antinium, Antherr. But the new lands? They are my people’s lands, no matter if every other power in the world is going. A real, true adventure. Of course I must go. I just fear I’ll be outmatched by the competition.”
  • (At Snatcher) “You idiot. You can’t swim, and that’s how you lost?”
  • (To Yvlon) “Maybe I shall, but that is hard to enforce, no? I am going fast as I can, Yvlon Byres, because there is a glory in being first. First to see what no one else has. First to walk a new soil. Does it call to you?”
  • (Via message to Falene) "—kick my [Shaman]’s hanging b—"
