First Appearance

Interlude – Perspective and Past

Visophecin is the leader of the Lucifen of House Shoel.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

He is a tall man. With his glamour, he resembles a meticulously dressed human with slightly dark skin, jet black hair tinted slightly blue, bloodless lips, and bright orange yellow eyes. His real appearance has gray skin, tall horns curving up, sharp teeth, and a tail.[1]

His Warform has skin dark with soot, bright red eyes, horns, sharp teeth, and clawed hands.[2] His Infernal Pact-empowered Warform is hairless with a skull similar to a helmet in structure, has jey black skin, long claws tinged red at the end, wings, and bright crimson eyes in his sockets.[3]

Personality[edit | edit source]

He's upfront about his desires, and rarely gets angry. He is cordial and maintains a good reputation.[1] He has a idiosyncratic personality, that gives him a cold and dispassionate expression that doesn’t change, even when the worst casualty reports came in.[4]

Background[edit | edit source]

Visophecin is the oldest of surviving Lucifen, born less than a thousand years ago,[5] and was the first Lucifen raised by Agelum out of kindness.[6] He survived Curulac's rampage against the Lucifen, and his father was killed by Greydath.

He approached Rhisveri offering to have the Lucifen and Agelum join Ailendamus.[1] Once, Rhisveri angered him by breaking one of the agreements he had with the Lucifen, which forbidded the use of child soldiers or former child soldiers like Dionamella. His wrath resulted in the evacuation of the old palace, which was covered up as a magical accident.[7]

Chronology[edit | edit source]

Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]

While nothing is known yet about his strength, it is stated that he is powerful enough that even Rhisveri at least watch his tongue, now and then, when talking to him.[4]

  • Incredible Strength: According to Ryoka he is stronger than Fierre.[1] By straining himself he can crack granite with only one finger, and smash a small granite statue by pressing his foot on it.[8]
  • Dueling: HAving trained with Agelum, he can match silver-bell duelists solely with technique.[9]
  • Gate-Walking: He can create portals to teleport, travelling from one place to another in moments. He cannot travel far, but can move from the palace to his estates for a modest expenditure of power.[10]
  • Illusions and Invisibility: He can use illusion magic to hide his Lucifen's features to appear more human. He can also, after lots of practice, able to somehow remain invisible to Uzine's multi-faceted eyes,[8] which are able to perceive invisible spells.[11]
  • Ice Magic: He is proficient in ice magic, and claims to know of more frost spells than any [Mage] of Cenidau or Archmage of Wistram living.[8]
  • Warform: It is able to regrow missing limbs when activated. It empowers him and gives him claws to strike with. It can only be sustained for a couple of minutes.[2]
  • Deal Empowerment: He grows more powerful for every deal and contract he makes, great and small.[1] An Infernal Pact will greatly empower him and give him more Lucifen spells.[3]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Although Visophecin does not need to eat food except for the monthly human, he possesses such a dislike of Sariant Lambs that at state functions, he always requests to eat lamb.[10]
  • He learned to Gate-Walk at age thirteen.[5]

Quotes[edit | edit source]

  • (To Rhisveri) “Let them fight their wars. Ailendamus wins in the end, Rhisveri. Take a step back. If we lose mortals, we lose mortals.”
  • (To Sophridel) “Why, because we have finally entered into what I will colloquially call the ‘big leagues’, Sophridel. The grand stage.”
  • (To the other Immortals) “Yes. To the true ruler of Ailendamus. We have established contact, even possible trade with a foreign power. Only, instead of on a planetary scale? A dimensional scale. We have entered into a new phase of imperium. So when I say I take this matter seriously? I take it seriously. I suggest you reframe the Wind Runner not as a thief, but as tidings, Rhisveri. Now—what shall we do about it? Leave the Order of Seasons to the mortals. We must be serious, cautious, resolute, for we dance a game with our kin. And they play as well as we.”
