Chapter 8.11 E (Ghost) |
Yderigrisel was a Silver-type Dragon. He was also a great Knight-Dragon, and the protector and ancient ally of House Byres, both in living and even in dead.
Appearance[edit | edit source]
He was as large as an airplane and a half. And he was radiant and magnificent. When he moved, glittering silver scales moved like a silver sea. His eyes were a mesmerizing clouds of silver crossed with flashes of color.[2]
If he was observed while he was in direct sunlight, the observers would probably have been blinded and in tears because his scales would had reflected the sunlight like a mirror.[2]
Personality[edit | edit source]
He didn't have the predisposition for hypochondria and cleanliness stereotyped by other Silver Dragons, but he had a passion for destroying what he saw as 'evil'. He uphold the pacts that he make with others, even if it means he would perish in the act of upholding those pacts.[3] He was also seen as high-and-mighty.[4]
Background[edit | edit source]
Millennia ago, the Byres had befriended Yderigrisel, and made a pact to build a shrine to offer silver to it. In exchange Yderigrisel would be there for them in their hour of need. He incepted their plan to destroy the vampires by spreading silver powder to poison them. He also spread it from overhead as he flew, which caused Teriarch to war against him once.[4]
Yderigrisel was known in draconic circles for often losing, if he didn't have an army to support him. He lost to The Putrid One and Rhisveri, among others.[5]
Yderigrisel would eventually die, but a ‘legend’ would say that he would come back for the Byres in their hour of need. This would come true as he did came back to fight in the Creler Wars, were he would perish for good.
Yderigrisel’s death was the greatest tragedy for House Byres. They would still keep honoring the ancient pact of offering silver at his shrine, to the point that it became a family tradition.[3]
Chronology[edit | edit source]
As the Horns of Hammerad did some traditional Byres activities, with the silver offering at the shrine being their latest one, Pisces asked its purpose to which Yvlon told them that it was for the Silver Dragon, Yderigrisel. She would then tell them about the Byres and Yderigrisel's story of how they were friends, its death, the ‘legend’ of coming back in their hour of need, and that it perished fighting in the Crelers Wars.[3]

Quotes[edit | edit source]
- (To Erin) “Greetings, Erin Solstice, who is between death and life. I heard the plan to free you from that one’s clutches and am pleased it succeeded, for all that was lost. I am Yderigrisel. Knight-Dragon in service of Terandria and Izril. You know my protection in this place whilst my strength lasts, mortal. You may now kneel.”
- (To Sserys) “Little Drake, you give one [Necromancer] too much credit. If he failed before your love, he was no great [Necromancer] as I knew them.”
- (To Dwarf [Legendary Mercenary]) “I have given my oath to protect both Erin Solstice and fight with the [Necromancer]. I will not be forsworn in death when I honored every vow in life.”
- (To Erin) “I wish I had not died. I wish my kin lived. There are so few left. I wish our time was not ending. I wish I was remembered…”
- (To everyone) “A chance is better than none. And this is a grand reason to fight. I had despaired, thinking my battle would be for vanity or survival. Nay! One last time, let the House of Byres defend a cause!”
- (To Erin) “Remember this, girl from another world. Bring wrath and justice to these craven things when you wake! And tell…tell the House of Byres I was faithful even past death.”
