Medain

From The Wandering Inn Wiki

The Thalassocracy of Medain is a kingdom in northern Chandrar. They also style themselves as a Kingdom of Adventurers.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Flos' Map of Northeastern Chandrar. Medain is labeled in orange at the top.

Medain is a nation that - as its name suggests - relies heavily on their navy. So far, there has been no mention how their relationship is with Savere which can be described as a piratocracy.

Aside from that, there are three vast dungeons that are in their borders. All three have been explored for centuries, but they are magical dungeons and still spit out enough threats to employ any number of adventurers. Thus, Medain is also a nation of adventurers and mercenaries.[1]

Medain is made up of four kingdoms. The three vassal kingdoms still have their [Kings], though they are subservient to the [High King].[2]

Military Strength[edit | edit source]

Medain's Golden Ranks are made up of former Gold-Rank adventurers,[3] who enlisted to become well-paid elite soldiers.[2] They still wield their artifacts obtained in their careers.[4]

Medain possesses two Named-Rank adventurers: "Three of Arms" Requiel and Chorteal the Djinni Master. They used to have a third Named-Rank, Frieke the falcon of Medain, but she has defected to Khelt.

History[edit | edit source]

Medain used to be a small nation, until after the King of Destruction's slumber when Perric conquered conquered three other kingdoms along the coastline and formed the current Thalassocracy.[2]

Perric doesn't have a personal grudge towards Flos Reimarch (according to Flos), but he has sent forces against Reim before.[1]

Belchan and Jecrass, the southern neighbors of Medain, had often allied to stop it from expanding in their direction. Medain imposes taxes on [Merchant] caravans.[5]

[High King] Perric, the ruler of Medain, hates Flos (according to Lyfelt),[5] which has been confirmed by his wishes to outdo Reim in showing off his military.[6]
