Chapter 6.54 K

Suzerain Serept was an Undead Revenant Half-Giant and the 5th ruler of Khelt.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Serept is a towering Half-Giant. In life, he had dark hair, and soot on his arms from blacksmithing.[2]

In his later years as a Revenant his body had rotted away to bone, and his spine had bowing more as centuries turned his bones further yellow. His glowing eyes that shown with dark rubies amid black flame. He had a scar on his arm that was from a war wound.[3]

Personality[edit | edit source]

He despised slavery and did not suffer Roshal's ways during his reign.[3]

Background[edit | edit source]

Serept grew up barefoot, being too large for the rest of the world. Upon becoming a citizen of Khelt, he had beautiful clothes and shoes tailored for him, enough food to sate him, and the ruler of Khelt at the time commissioned a bed for him. He grew to love Khelt enough to become its ruler and serve it for two thousand years after death.[2] He reigned for three thousand years in total.[4]

As a smith, Serept forged crystalline artifacts and took it to extremes. It was a motif of his. He had reached a level few [Blacksmiths] dared to imagine.[5] At some point during his life, Serept crafted the Diamond Swords of Serept along with other relics to accompany the blades. He also crafted blades for Giants.[3] He was also a mighty warrior.

The Honor Guard of Serept, which are 20 Half-Giants Revenants, in the form of bare-boned armored skeletons wielding enchanted weapons, were entombed during his reign so that future Rulers of Khelt can call upon them.[3] They are all likely over Level 30.[6]

Chronology[edit | edit source]

Volume 8[edit | edit source]

When a connection to the current world is created, and Fetohep is able to talk to the dead rulers of Khelt, Serept requests that the three temporary owners of the Diamond Swords of Serept (Wil, Venaz, and Feshi) be told how to properly use them and to loan the relics accompanying their blades.[3]

Quotes[edit | edit source]

  • (To Erin) “There has to be a weapon that can harm them. Although if they are what we fear, what weapon can harm them that we could forge? Ponder that, child. Bring weapons from your world. Now, move back. We are failing.”
  • (To Fetohep) “Fetohep. My Swords. That which they call the Swords of Serept. I am told…they are scattered. Six of them were lost and never recovered. Three now belong to outsiders of Khelt. This concerns me....Swords are meant to be wielded, and I am grateful they were found. My quandary is this: if you granted such blades, and correct me if I err, it seems you did not instruct the wielders as to their usage. The ghosts of the dead who heard of it did not say you gave these students lessons. It seems unfair to do so.”
  • (To Erin) “We are…unfair? He is our mortal agent. Should we not command him to do what must be done?”
  • (To His-Xe) “Well thought, His-Xe. I have always admired your reign.”
  • (To Norechl) “Show me your mettle, dark thing. Or will you not heed a warrior’s challenge? I am the son of the sky. The bones of this world were my ancestors. By Khelt—I challenge you.
