Seve-Alrelious, also known as the Hundredfriends Courier, is a Sea Courier.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

He has dark skin, with shining tattoos made of magical ink. Some were glowing ink, stationary, showing the places he had been, people he had met.

Others were made of living animals that moved and changed position on his skin, like six dolphins swimming across his leg, a staring monkey, etc. Each one of them is a friend, a companion he met at sea, given life by magic.[1]

Personality[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

He was born in A’ctelios Salash, and was raised on outsider food until he was ten years old. Then he was given the choice to eat the meat of the Carven City, which he accepted. He would eventually leave and become a Sea Courier.[2]

When he was first starting out, he took a wound at sea which festered and threatened his life. A [Merchant] he had done a delivery for the month before, saving his home from a termite-breed, heard about his plight and paid for his treatment. This would inspire Seve-Alrelious in how he would do business.[2]

During his sea travels, he would tattoo with magical ink on his skin the places he had been and people he had met.

Thanks to the Empire of Drath, he would also make into ink and tattoo animals he had befriended at sea to protect them from the predators and lashing rains that even they feared. These tattooed animals can be summoned to help him, and thanks to them he become known as the Hundredfriends Courier.[1]

Chronology[edit | edit source]

Volume 7[edit | edit source]

When one of his friends, Seql, contacted the Yellow Rivers disease, Seve promised him that he would find him a medicine and cure him.

After 3 shipments of the Occillium treatment were intercepted from their delivery for Baleros, and additional shipments were blocked by the Typhoon Erannda, Seve and 3 other Sea Couriers, which were; the Waterbear of Cerun, Shellbazaar and the Four Winds of Teral, accepted to deliver the last samples of the Occillium from Tritel, and so that they didn't risk being interception or delayed, they went straight through the Typhoon.

In the Typhoon, Seve headed for Igawiz’s Jet current, to slingshot his way through the Typhoon, and even with Krakens and Sea Serpents about, he continued. The Sea Serpents would aim at him, jeopardizing his delivery, and as he was preparing for one last assault, he was saved by 2 [Sea Druids]’s Bone-Ships from the Sea’s Shepherds, who were contacted to help the Sea Couriers in their delivery by Nalthaliarstrelous, who in turn was asked by Mrsha.

Seve with the 2 [Sea Druids]’s Bone-Ships flanking him for protection, broke through the typhoon, and with them and later with the 3 other Sea Couriers, the Iron Vanguard’s ships, and the Bloodtear Pirates (who choose to help the Sea Couriers for braving Typhoon Erannda), were able to complete their delivery without interception by other [Pirates].

While the 3 other Sea Couriers went to other ports for the delivery, Seve went to Talenqual to give the Occillium samples to Geneva, so that she could help his friends, Seql.[1]

Quotes[edit | edit source]

  • (To Arveil) “Don’t worry about us, Arveil! I’ll protect the ship! Just take us forwards! We cannot falter here. We promised them the cure!
  • (To himself) “Stay quiet, the Deeps. Lower the sail. So Krakens come—beware.
  • (To Erek) “The cure must reach Talenqual. We have sworn it, Erek.”
  • To Umina:
    • “It’s a good place. Peculiar. Dangerous, like some cities, but I call it home. A’ctelios needs someone like Doctor Geneva.”
    • “Skill and ink. They’re all living. They just stay with me because feeding so many is hard work. As for the practice—it’s Drathian. They know how to turn pictures into magic.”
  • To Geneva:
    • “There are few like me. But I think your beliefs and mine are similar, Geneva. I am the Hundredfriends Courier. I charge no fee when the cause is enough.”
    • “That’s enough. Friendship is worth more than any currency. More than gold. That’s how I live.”
  • (To Sammial) “For the Wind Runner of Reizmelt, I too answer the call. For a fellow Courier, and the one who helped spread the Yellow Rivers cure. Lord Sammial Veltras, you are bound for your home, and we will not fail that charge. Let no one in the world slow our passage. Couriers outbound.
