The Adventurer’s Haven

From The Wandering Inn Wiki
(Redirected from Booru:Adventurer's haven)

The Adventurer's Haven is the greatest inn of northern Izril, if not the entire continent.

Overview edit edit source

The inn is considered the best on Izril, run by the continent's highest leveled [Innkeeper], Larracel Delais. It is usually located around First Landing, but can move from place to place. Some of its older patrons have gone on to become Couriers, Named Adventurers, and an Archmage.[1] It primarily caters to wealthy nobles, and generates a massive profit, though it also spends a fortune in upkeep.[2] Prices are extremely expensive, with Magnolia claiming that paying for Tyrion Veltras's group was comparable to contributing to a war effort.[3]

Its crest is a wand in front of a mug and a bag of gold to the side.[1]

Layout edit edit source

The inn is comprised of several buildings connected by bridges, with the Inn proper being the central building, and has a combined occupancy in the thousands and enough staff to constitute a village. The buildings are added and removed as Larracel sees fit.[2] The inn can float and move, lifted by Larracel's own magic, with the smaller buildings hovering around it on rounded daises with safety railings at the edges, anchored to huge pedestals pulled by oxen. It is accessible by stairs or ramps. The central building looks like a house that had been repurposed into an inn, and also resembles a crown or Reim's capital in miniature. It has three massive floors, and is multisided to face any direction, has at least four floors, open balconies, and turrets. It has a farmstead, with pens of animals and fields of crops, a library,[1] a bathhouse, and extended guest suites. Some of the farm's livestock are magical. The inn has an outdoor tavern area like a café, larger than the Wandering Inn's [Grand Theatre]. The outdoor deck is where the largest kitchen is, which provides for casual guests.[2]

The inside of the inn has large suites with silk sheets and plumbing, and soundproof walls made of heartwood salvaged from an old ship. The hallways feature paintings of old friends and guests[1] There are magical rooms for children, and multiple rooms as large as Erin's [Grand Theatre] Skill. The second floor of the tavern contains a mini-guild which performs Adventurer, Mage, and Merchant guild functions.[4] The balconies are used for public dining. A notable area in the inn is the [Pub of Best Moments], a room-Skill where patrons wear masks for fun, and transforms them into their literal best as a person, showing off their good qualities.

Service edit edit source

Larra has the Skill [Law of the Inn] which can prevent offensive spellcasting, even from high-level mages like Grimalkin.[5] Patrons also feel like they are younger when staying there.[1] Every occupant gets a free basket of bread in the morning. The inn used to give out butter, but it proved too expensive.[4] The staff is trained to wait on nobility. For gambling, the inn offers fake currency in the form of adventure-coins. Entertainment is provided late into the night.[2]

History edit edit source

The inn was once modest, with cramped room, cotton sheets, and plastered walls over cabin wood. It has been repeatedly remodelled into what it is today.[1] It has fed armies in the past, and been attacked by armies and monsters.[4][2] It has fought off the Bloodfeast Raiders once.[6]

Staff edit edit source

Half of the staff consists of Arcane Familiars conjured by Larra. Their intelligence is limited, so they cannot do everything, such as rinsing non-enchanted plates for risk of breaking them.[4]

Larracel prefers to hire women with darker skin like herself, to give them a better chance due to the tendency to be treated as foreigners even as Izrilian natives. Her staff is presumedly mostly or entire human as a result.[6] It's hard to apply for a role at the Haven and staff members get etiquette training. Staff uniforms are flashy, with bright satin and faux-silk cloths. The sub-heads of the various buildings surrounding the Inn are all over level 30.[2]

The Second Haven is the first new inn under the brand, run by Barnethei as its [Innkeeper] with a quarter of the Adventurer's Haven's original staff and Larra's support, and located in the new lands of Izril. It's marketed as a place where one can get and refill magic and send [Messages] amidst the magic-draining environment.

Trivia edit edit source

  • The Driver's Guild dislikes the Haven due to stealing their work by transporting cargo whenever it moves.[7]
  • As Larracel prefers to remain behind the scenes, Barnethei acts as the face of the inn, with many believing him to be the [Innkeeper] of the Haven.
  • As of the Night of Bloodtear, the Adventurer's Haven has served nine thousand nine hundred, one hundred and seventy two guests.[8]
