Beastkin are one of the races of Innworld. They are mostly found on Baleros and Chandrar.
Background[edit | edit source]
Beastkin does not refer to one specific people but a set of tribes known collectively as Beastkin. Each tribe takes traits from a specific animal, such as Cat Beastkin or Rabbit Beastkin. Scattered and relatively sparse, the Beastkin are a rare species but generally acclimatise to any lands they find themselves in. They also tend to have interesting relationships with animals given their heritage. A Rabbit Beastkin is wary of cats for instance, and will generally save innocent bunnies by beating up any predators on the prowl.[1]
Beastkin in Izril mainly reside in the southern half of the continent and can be mainly found among the Gnoll Tribes than in Drake settlements.[2] There are Fox-Beastkin living on Chandrar, such as in Nerrhavia's Fallen.[3]
Appearances[edit | edit source]
Fox[edit | edit source]
They are shorter on average than humans, slim, and nimble. Their fur color ranges across red, sandy, black, and occasionally silver.[3]
Wolf[edit | edit source]
They resemble Gnolls, but are shorter and have distinct lupine features.[4]
Salamander[edit | edit source]
They are scaled like Drakes and Lizardfolk, but their heads are flat, and they have the most lizard-like face of the three.[4]
Crocodile[edit | edit source]
They are huge, scaly, with wide set eyes on both sides of their face and a long tooth-filled snout.[5] Their feet are stuby and webbed with talons.[6]
Behavior and Culture[edit | edit source]
They are known to be peaceful and easy to work with. They are a bit closer to their roots than other species, which can give them some behavioral traits from the animals they are based on.[7]
Most Beastkin do not leave their home tribes. Those that do are usually wanderers, outcasts, or on a mission.[8]
History[edit | edit source]
Beastkin were one of the original races of Innworld, who immigrated there in its inception.[9]
Fox-Beastkin were protected in Chandrar under Tottenval, leading to a population boom on the continent. As his work benefited many people even to the present day, most nations didn't displace them after his death and the dissolution of Flos' empire.[3]

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Just like Gnolls, Beastkin make great pet owners, since they establish themselves as pack leaders easily.[14]
- Except for Hawk, the rest of the Long Ear Tribe live only in a few regions in Baleros.[1]
- The Cat and Dog-Beastkin are known to fight each other, though comparatively less compared City Drakes and Plains Gnolls.[15]
- It's an insult to refer to Beastkin by the trait that defined their pre-Beastkin form.[8]
