Solca Vis
More actions
Solca Vis is a young woman from the Philippines that was transported into another world. She is the main protagonist of The Last Tide comic book series, which is written by Pirateaba, illustrated by Shane Sandulak, lettered by Matías Zanetti, and published by Cloudscape Comics.[2]
Appearance edit edit source
Solca is about as tall as the average man, has defined muscles, dark brown eyes, and short hair given her line of work. She wears bright and casual clothing that is not suitable for storms or swimming.[1]
Personality edit edit source
She sits or stands still and watches other people intently as they talk, as her command of English is poor. However, when adversity threatens, her true character emerges, and she wears a fierce grin or a surprised, excited expression without fear.[1]
Background edit edit source
Solca is from the Philippines and is a fisherwoman by profession. She bought her boat with the money she had saved for years and fished and other times ferried tourists in it to earn a living. She was traveling across the bay of her home city when a breeze started to blow, and when she turned around, her city was gone. She had found herself in the middle of the ocean, with no land in sight for hundreds of miles in any direction. Shortly after her arrival, she was attacked by a Reefeye that caused significant damage to her fishing boat. However, she was eventually able to reach Hesheit, where Taxus took her in.[1]
Chronology edit edit source
Volume 7 edit edit source
She is mentioned to be dreaming at the edge of the world.[3]
The Last Tide: Book One edit edit source
Solca was transported to another world and was attacked by a Reefeye soon after. Fortunately, despite her damaged boat, she managed to navigate and reach Hesheit. There, she was welcomed by the Dwarf Taxus and ended up living with him and Chime, an ostracized Half-Dullahan. After two weeks of staying with them, Taxus managed to repair her boat, and Solca volunteered to go fishing for more food since their supplies were running low. She found Chime at her usual spot and showed her how to catch fish using techniques from Earth. However, before returning to the island, Solca asked Chime to accompany her to observe The Last Tide, leading them on a brief but dangerous detour.[1]
