First Appearance |
Garia Strongheart is a City Runner that is active in Celum.
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Garia is a young woman that was initially shorter than Ryoka but much sturdier.[2] She has skin a few shades darker than normal and black hair, with a bit of blue[3] running through it, just streaks, a legacy from her mother’s side.[4]
After having gained the [Martial Artist] Class, her body has undergone changes. She has become much thinner and now has a toned body, one to make Ryoka jealous,[1] that is closer to Yvlon in terms of size, albeit a tiny bit bulkier; she is incredibly good-looking.[5] Garia doesn't appear to have bought new clothings, as her current ones are loose and almost ill-fitting.[1]
Personality[edit | edit source]
Background[edit | edit source]
Garia is the daughter of two farmers — Viceria and Wailant Strongheart. She is color blind in the sense that she has problems to tell apart white and grey.[6]
As a kid, every day from dawn till dusk, Garia worked at her father's farm as a [Farm Worker], helping out with the plowing, lifting, and so on till the age of 18, at which point she stopped and became a [Runner].
Chronology[edit | edit source]
Volume 1[edit | edit source]
When Garia first appeared in Volume 1, she was one of the slowest runners in the guilds around Wales and Celum and one of the odd ones because of her bulky build. She tried to befriend Ryoka, since both oddballs had little other friends in the guild - but Ryoka didn't care about her,[2] not even when Garia tried her best to help cure her.[7] Garia was put into an awkward position to deal with Fals (for whom she probably had a slight crush) and Persua, but not to sell out Ryoka at the same time.[8] Garia broke bridges with Persua when the latter appeared in Ryoka's inn with an adventurer to beat the Asian runner up - Garia defended Ryoka and beat the adventurer up.[9] She then followed Ryoka to Esthelm, where she witnessed the match between Ryoka and Yvlon. She was humiliated by Calruz for being a cowardly runner.[10]
Volumes 2 and 3[edit | edit source]
After Ryoka returned from her first run into the Bloodfields, Garia introduced her to Octavia.[11] She was injured on a run two days later, but Ryoka bought her a good potion from Octavia to help her.[12] They only met again after Ryoka's second run to deliver to Az’kerash.[13]. She was around when Ryoka crashed Persua's go-away party in Celum, resulting in the destruction of the guild.[14] The next day, Fals revealed to Ryoka that Garia had invited him for a dinner with her parents, and he invited Ryoka along to make it less awkward.[15]
Volume 4[edit | edit source]
Volumes 6 and 7[edit | edit source]
Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]
She is able to keep running even when she is carrying deliveries that weight 30-40 kg; the reason for that is [Enhanced Strength], which allows her to barely feel 30 kg. Said skill is usually only available for Lv. 30 [Warriors], though due to luck she managed to receive without meeting these requirements, having received it through her [Farm Worker] class, where it is a slightly more common skill.

- She appears to be as old as Ryoka if not 1 or 2 years younger.[1]
- Garia prefers to stay at the Frenzied Hare Inn all the time, despite the bad taste of it's food, because it is cheap and the owner, Agnes, is very likeable.
- Ivolethe calls her "The big girl with the heart of a mouse".[17]
- She considers Selphids, who need to hide in someone’s dead body and pretending to be alive, a bit creepy.[18]
