tl;dr[edit | edit source]
Magnolia meets up with Regis Reinhart in First Landing and acquires artifacts. Liscor's Council decides on Ryoka for a scout. The Antinium guests are about to leave. The Goblin Lord receives orders from Az'Kerash.
Synopsis[edit | edit source]
- A group of riders chases down Magnolia's carriage on her way to First Landing, it slows and the lead rider is pulled inside by Ressa. Magnolia greets Mayor Wullst of Leadenfurt who wants to talk to Magnolia about her request for soldiers to deal with the Goblin Lord. He informs her that Lord Veltras requested twice the number of soldiers just before her request arrived and he does not have the soldiers to spare for her. Magnolia asks for the best 200 cavalry and mages he can spare instead and the Mayor agrees before being ejected from the carriage.
- Magnolia arrives at her ancestral home in First Landing and is greeted by her Aunt Cecille, and her two children Wernel and Damia. Magnolia ignores them and heads deeper into the state telling them that she's to meet with "Grandfather" which scares them off. Magnolia arrives at the family treasury where Regis Reinhart is bound with his four servants.
- After trading unpleasantries Regis tells the rude Magnolia that she's at least better than the rest of the family as none of them have dared to enter since she left. Regis laments the fall of [Necromancy] but Magnolia points out that he's also been spying on them which has earned their distrust. Regis hints that Wernel and his half-sister have been having an ilicit relationship unbeknownst to Cecille.
- Magnolia tells him why she's arrived: to take some relics from the vault to protect the House and Regis says she can take what she needs but no more. Magnolia however argues that she should be able to take whatever she wants but as Regis is the guardian she requires his permission. Regis tells her that the artifacts are for a time of need and there's only a Goblin Lord and the recent assassinations at the moment. He decides to let her take something on account of the danger the Circle of Thorns might pose but Magnolia tells him that she's here for items to combat the Goblin Lord and informs him about the recent news of the defeat of the two Drake armies.
- Regis states that a Goblin Lord that has just won a victory is dangerous, getting closer to becoming a Goblin King. Regis surmises that the Goblin Lord might get bogged down at Liscor before Spring but Magnolia tells him that the Goblin Lord will bypass Liscor without attempting the walls as Liscor managed to survive both The Necromancer and the Antinium. It would be difficult to take Liscor without a powerful siege weapon, massive army, magical artifact or being of immense power.
- Regis brings up Magnolia's relationship with Teriarch and insults him but Magnolia threatens to have Teriarch dispel the enchantments keeping Regis in place. Regis tries to call her bluff but Magnolia tells him that the Dragon would agree as long as she promised half the treasury for the act.
- Regis backpedals and talks about the potential return of the Necromancer and what Magnolia's plans are for him, Magnolia responds citing that the Antinium are her priority and he'll be dealt with after the Antinium are as there are six Hives to deal with. Regis agrees with her and asks her what she wants to take from the vault, Magnolia points to the Crown of Flowers and Regis immediately refuses, stating that it's power is weaker in the winter and that a Goblin Lord doesn't warrant the crown, only a Goblin King. Magnolia tells him about the news of the great Goblin Chieftain that might join hands with the Goblin Lord and Regis tells her that while dangerous it's still not enough for the Crown of Flowers to be unvaulted.
- Magnolia relents and tells him her plan to raise an army of 40,000 and a dedicated [General] to lead it. She requests two companies of the Reinhart's warriors, golems, armor for the [General], an artifact for the great Goblin Chieftain and a dagger for Ressa. Regis agrees and the two begin to haggle over the particulars of Ressa's weapon. Before leaving Magnolia informs Regis that Tyrion Veltras has also been trying to raise an army and predictably this angers Regis over being one upped by the Veltras and Magnolia tells him that he'll now have to give her what she asked for and more.
- As Magnolia and Ressa leave, Magnolia calls out to her aunt to tell her about her children. Meanwhile she asks Ressa to contact Lady Bethal to have her Knights of the Petal attempt to hunt down the Goblin Chieftain that's been attacking travelers. She also offhandedly mentions the issue of otherworlders, which Regis overhears.
- Olesm, acting as the required [Strategist] for Liscor's council, sits with them and it's guests discussing the issue of the Goblin Lord. He notes that the entire council are Drakes, with the exception of the adventurers Ulrien, Jelaqua and Regrika Blackpaw. Ilvriss confirms that messages have been sent to the other cities and that a confederaton army will be sent. Additionally a message has been sent to Liscor's army who has decided to dispatch a unit to defend the city.
- Olesm brings up the topic of Liscor's Antinium having a standing agreement to defend the city but Ilvriss and Zel are both wary and they say they'll appraise the situation if it occurs. Regrika brings the matter back to the Goblin Lord and Zel informs them that the [Scout] that Hawk found said that the Goblin Lord is likely a much more powerful [Necromancer] than the [Generals] had expected.
- Regrika asks if they could send someone to scout the army, and Selys' grandmother says that the only courier, Hawk, would refuse the job. Ulrien offers the services of Halrac but Zel declines risking one of their combatants for scouting. Regrika asks about City Runners instead and they send for a list from Liscor's guild but it lacks people with high levels. Olesm points out the door to Celum and brings up Ryoka as a candidate and Regrika expresses her desire to meet the runner.
- Xrn, Tersk and Pivr stand before the Free Queen and Klbkch telling her that they'll probably return to the Hive before the Goblin Lord arrives. Tersk confirms that he has witnessed value in what the Free Antinium have created here and will inform his Queen, as does Pivr. They also tell her that they'll request a link to be set up between the Free Antinium and the others.
- Osthia, still bound and helpless, watches as the projection of Az'Kerash converses with the Goblin Lord. He asks why she needs to be kept alive and Reiss tells his master that she provides information. Az'Kerash then reiterates his order: march past Liscor and claim the Goblins of the mountain and build his forces, possibly becoming a Goblin King if he can and wreak havoc in the human lands. He then tells Reiss that he doesn't want his servants in Liscor to be compromised but the Goblin Lord laughs and tells him that they've only just arrived in Liscor after bein glost until a week ago.
- Teriarch is playing cookie clicker on his copy of Ryoka's phone and has so many cookies.
