The Cloak of Plenty, also known as Liquid Cloak, is one of the artifacts that were found in Liscor's Dungeon.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

While inactive the Cloak of Plenty looks like a cloak of pure white fabric. When the enchantment is activated, the white fabric takes the appearance of the liquid it is currently set on. Even while it is active, the cloak still ripples as though it was mere fabric.[1]

Background[edit | edit source]

The Cloak of Plenty was placed together with a Necklace and a Bell made of bronze and blue metal, in a trapped room, inside Liscor's Dungeon.[2]

Chronology[edit | edit source]

Enchantments[edit | edit source]

Once it is activated, the cloak will take on the properties of a liquid like water and blood.

To activate the enchantment and switch a liquid property, all that is required is a small amount of liquid to touch the cloak and it will change rapidly to said liquid.[1] The cloak can also be ‘set’ to stick to one liquid so that it stops changing all the time.[3]

Pisces surmised that not all liquids work and that only base liquids that are non-complex fluids like blood, water, and so on are the target reagents of change.[4] So far, known liquids properties are; Water, Blood, Gastritis Fluids (Vomit),[1] Saliva,[4] Mud and Urine (Pee).[3] Ilvriss used it temporarily to produce non-magical wine and mentioned using it for a nourishing broth.[5]

The Cloak of Plenty is also denser than it appears at first glance and as much as an elbow length deep. As such it can be used as a bulwark of sorts against physical blows and slashes. Blows will sink into the cloak and slow as if they were under said liquid. While the cloak gives some utility in defense, it is limited as swords stabs and arrows could still pass through the cloak. Still it is possible to use the cloak to wrap someone's head in it and drown them.[6]

The Cloak of Plenty's true value lies in how much liquid the cloak holds, as it can serve as a portable supply like a water source or a well of blood to be used in blood magic for a [Bloodmage].

Once it runs out of magic, it is theorized that the cloak would probably revert back to a dormant state while it recharged for a day or so.[4]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Pisces speculated that a [Bloodmage] would pay hundreds of thousands of gold coins for the Liquid Cloak, as it could serve as a reusable supply of blood.[4]
  • The true name of this artifact was revealed by Ilvriss in Chapter 5.57.
