Chronology[edit | edit source]

Volume 8[edit | edit source]

Ser Lormel, Ser Dalimont, Ser Sest, and Dame Ushar arrive in Liscor looking for Princess Lyonette, however she has already reached Oteslia and is searching for Erin's cure. Lormel attempts to question the civilians, but fails to uncover any clues due to his flowery language which is indecipherable to most people. Dalimont takes over questioning and notices Mrsha watching them; she flees.[5]

Mrsha seeks to punish the four Thronebearers and, with the aide of Niers and Apista, spikes their meals with Calescent's spice while they dine at a restaraunt. Unfortunately, Mrsha sends them a flower as a calling-card and they track her to the inn after recovering.[6][7] Lormel reprimands Mrsha for her actions and Mrsha apologizes with a written note. Unfortunately, her flowery language gives away that she knows Lyonette and Ishkr reveals that Lyonette is in Oteslia.[7] The Thronebearers hold a discussion debating their next course of action and decide to leave for Oteslia.[1]

They are in Liscor when Belavierr attacks the inn. Lormel and the others ride out to do battle and protect Mrsha. Eventually, his horse is killed and he is trapped beneath it. At the end of the battle, Wanderer escapes with Mrsha and the Thronebearers are left wondering what to do next.[1] Ser Lormel advocates chasing after Mrsha, however he is eventually persuaded to head towards Lyonette in Oteslia instead.[8]

The Thronebearers attempt to slip through the seige lines at Oteslia however they are attacked and only rescued when Magnolia Reinhart sends her coach out to retrieve them. Ser Lormel is nearly hit by a practice arrow as he failed to fasten his helmet on. After entering the city the thronebears promptly cause a spectacle when they kneel before Lyonette in public.[9]

The Knights take over as Lyonette's bodyguards and immediately begin manipulating the political situation in Oteslia. Ser Sest organizes that "pre-murdered-quarry feint" and successfully diverts an assassination attempt.[4]

Lormel speaks with the King and Queen of Calanfer and is given orders to bring Lyonette home as soon as possible.[2] He assists in the kitchen when Lyonette makes her allies wraps in Oteslia.[2]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

Quotes[edit | edit source]

  • (To Mrsha) “So, here is the perpetrator of yesterday’s incident. A restaurant’s reputation in ruins! Four Thronebearers of Eternal Calanfer, poisoned! I have some words for you, young lady.”
  • (To Dalimont, Sest, Ushar - On rebranding Lyonette's image) “The Princess of the Hearth. Hearth and home. She would never let a child be alone.”
  • (To Dalimont & Sest) “Ser Dalimont, Ser Sest—if we were not fellow [Knights] sworn to brotherhood and cooperation, I would use language unbefitting of the lowest bar!”
  • (To the King and Queen of Calanfer) “Yes, Your Majesty. We have found her. It is most certainly Her Highness, Princess Lyonette du Marquin. She is hale of heart and body, and, I feel, grown since last I laid eyes on her.”
  • (To Mrsha) “Such beautiful prose. Worthy of any Calanferian missive. I say, I say, well done, Miss Mrsha. Although I will note the foul language in the last line.”
  • (To Normen) “No potion! We can’t waste—dead gods, it hurts! Right in my coin bank! Straight between Their Majesties’ thrones!”
