First Appearance

Chapter 3.21 L

Apista is Lyonette's Ashfire Bee.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Apista is a little bit bigger than the size of two hands joined together, which is larger than the average Ashfire Bee which are as big as a hand.[1] Her stinger was originally a little barb, but it was enhanced, becoming bigger with a crimson tint after Lyonette gained the [Crimson Stinger].[2]

She lost a wing and some of her legs at the Meeting of the Tribes. Later, she was given tiny peg legs and artificial wings, sent by Niers Astoragon.[3]

In her Ashbringer Scourgebee form, Apista is much larger, with six legs and four wings. Her fur is bright orange, and her stinger is described to be "like the death of faces."[4]

Personality[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

Chronology[edit | edit source]

  • Spawn and childhood as singular bee, trained by Lyonette
  • Addiction to faerie flowers.
  • Defeating the Queen of Ashfire Bees
  • Overcoming addiction to Faerie flowers, desire to rescue Ashfire bee swarm

Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]

Having drunk the magical nectar of the faerie flowers on a regular basis, Apista's mana reserves have increased, allowing her to create hotter, brighter flames which also won't extinguish as quickly compared to other ashfire bees.[1] She attached the remains of Belavierr's Naq-Alrama needle to her stinger, letting her sting past magical protections.[5] She became able to use Erin's memory flames. Inspired by Valeterisa's feat of lifting Fissival, she can use flames to propel herself like a small rocket, regaining her ability to fly after she lost her wing.[6]

  • Erin suggested several potential names for the bee, with "Apista" being the one Lyon settled on, though Erin had been holding out for Beeyonce, or Pudge.[8]
  • Apista consumed fairy flower nectar on a daily basis, making her high.[9]
  • Apista dislikes whenever a "bug thing" enters the inn. She is afraid of them, as they eat her kind.[1]
  • Apista considers Mrsha to be her pet.[10]
  • Apista is capable of playing chess, even once beating Mrsha in a game, which is either a testament to Apista's intelligence, or Mrsha's ineptitude at the game[11]
