Chapter 4.07 is the 8th chapter of Volume 4 and Book 5, The Last Light.

tl;dr[edit | edit source]

Xrn and Klbkch talks about the current state of the Hives and what to do in the future. Erin talks to Bird, later sells her magical soup at the Adventurers' Guild. Apista is a pupa now.

Synopsis[edit | edit source]

  • Xrn finally manages to talk to Klbkch about the purpose of her visit. Klbkch had been previously avoiding her due to his fear of the Grand Queen trying to order him to return to her hive and act as Prognugator. Xrn tells Klbkch about the battles that she participated in since they last talked. Xrn had now almost reclaimed all of her lost levels.
  • Xrn explains that she came despite the Grand Queen's wishes and that this visit was the only way she would be able to meet with Klbkch. Xrn tells Klbkch that the Grand Queen and the others do not believe in the necessity of individuals. Klbkch explains how the Prognugators are insufficient and the Antinium need more leaders to lead their armies to avoid the same difficulties that they had during the Antinium Wars.
  • Xrn tells Klbkch that she previously believed that creating individuals was unnecessary due to expecting to be victorious over the Drakes and Gnolls. Now however she agrees that the individuals are valuable and that Klbkch's choice was correct. Xrn finally tells him why she's here: to tell him that no new Queens have been born and the current Queens have given up on trying to make them altogether.
  • Xrn tells Klbkch her new plan: return to Rhir and bring back a young Queen with the knowledge to make more. Xrn wants to use the individuals to help with the expedition. Xrn also explains that she sent Zel Shivertail after Wrymvyr to kill him so that he will come back to his senses because she believes that he and his Queen have gone insane.
  • Klbkch then tells her that they should also consider returning to Rhir with more than just Antinium and even if they can't there will still be more individuals. He tells Xrn that neither he nor the Free Queen know how to make more individuals, but they need to focus on Erin to help them make more. He tells her that Erin comes from another world.
  • Erin talks to Bird about being Bird.
  • Once Bird leaves Lyonette attends to the now bee pupa Apista and Lyonette tells her that she's levelled. Erin let's her take Mrsha into Liscor now that Zel has vouched for Lyonette. Erin gives her money and Lyonette sees the other coin that Erin received for payment from her mysterious guests on the Winter Solstice.
  • Erin heads to the Adventurer's Guild and tries to start selling her magical soup outside. Selys and her fellow receptionist Drassi come out to see the crowd gathering around Erin. A Drake adventurer takes a sample of Erin's defensive soup, and Erin stabs him in the back. The drake is unharmed and Erin stabs him in the stomache. Relc arrives to test the soup and the Drake manages to get up from one of his blows causing the crowd to start lining up to try the soup.
  • Selys manages to intervene when Erin starts lowering her price from 2 gold coins to 1 compared to bark potions that typically sell for 17 gold. Erin explains to the skeptical crowd that
  • After selling all her soups Erin returns to the inn, but she keeps looking northwards towards the road, waiting for Ryoka. Meanwhile Ryoka is only a day away.
