Piortesenzth is a Human [Hunter] from Noelictus. The oldest and highest-leveled of the Hunter's Guild, he serves as the last line of defense against powerful undead and monsters.
Appearance edit edit source
Piortesenzth has a thin build, with dark skin and white hair. His eyes look like "a flash of brilliant lightning." He wears armor ravaged by scars, and a cape with holes.[1]
Personality edit edit source
Piortsenzth has a grim sense of responsibility and duty to his purpose of slaying the most dangerous foes to Noelictus and the Hunter's Guild. Though his dedication to his oath has not wavered for millennia, both his body and spirit has grown weary from being woken hundreds of times. While claiming that his "greatest joy would be to sleep forever," he is resigned to the fact that he is most likely to die fighting before seeing peace and calm in Noelictus. He cares for little outside of his duties, being indifferent to the Guild's politics or news outside of Noelictus.
As a [Hunter], Piortsenzth is quick to assess and respond to threats, to minimize the time spent out of [Stasis] and as his foes are often within reach when awakened. He considers himself as a weapon, but only against monsters and undead, refusing to be used for Noelictus's wars.[2] Despite having reached a higher level that few have, he is modest, even self-deprecating, considering himself "useless" outside of fighting. He showed respect to Haeight for daring to attempt to slay a Skeleton Lord,[1] and refers to his fellow [Hunters] as his "brothers" and "sisters."
Background edit edit source
Piortsenzth was one of the first [Hunters] in Noelictus. When he was in his late seventies, he volunteered to be put under a [Perfect Stasis] spell, as a weapon of last resort for Noelictus. He was sealed in a coffin and kept in the armories of the Hunter's Guild for millennia. He was first awoken by King Rodeleic during the Creler Wars, and fought for three years. The Guildmaster after Rodeleic was forced to wake Piortsenzth three hundred nine times, while the next Guildmaster only used him twelve times, each for a great foe. He was rarely awakened by the next few Guildmasters. However, as millennia passed, and levels and magic waned, Piortesenzth began to be called on more frequently with greater urgency. He was awakened nearly five hundred times alone between the three previous Guildmasters before the current one, Deilfec.
Chronology edit edit source
Huntsong edit edit source
When Seraphel first arrives in Meronome, a group of [Hunters] are escorting his coffin somewhere. Despite being in [Stasis], Piortesenzth senses the [Princess], recognizing her from "Marquin's kingdom," while also detecting the presence of a "spider."[3]
At the Tomb of Fiskren, when Haeight was about to be killed by a Skeleton Lord, a group of Hunters intervene. Piortesenzth is awakened and defeats the Skeleton Lord in an instance. Recognizing Haeight's bravery, he tells Pictirm to make her a Veteran Hunter before re-entering [Stasis].[1]

Volume 10 edit edit source
Piortsenzth is still alive in Noelictus, referenced by Ser Dalimont as the "most dangerous man in the world."[4] He trains other [Hunters] in preparation for them to take on his mantle.
