Chapter 5.08

Relz Hauscale is a Drake Wall Lord from Pallass and a [Commentator] with Wistram News Network

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Snobby-looking, his defining characteristic is the fact that he wears a monocle.[1]

Personality[edit | edit source]

Relz is pompous and self-entitled. He often acts condescending to those he deems inferior. As part of the upper echelon of Pallass's society, he possesses strong nationalistic tendencies for the Drake species and Pallass. As such, his reporting tends to be biased in nature, often treating non-Drake or non-Pallassian news as irrelevant. Although knowledgeable on various subjects, Relz can be shortsighted, such as when he and Noass covered the riot in Invrisil, and accidentally triggered additional riots across Izril.[2]

Background[edit | edit source]

Chronology[edit | edit source]

Noass and Sir Relz became world-famous when they stood near the Magical Door in Pallass and commented for the crowds around them on the Moth's attack on Liscor and The Wandering Inn. The door entrance and the two Drake's commentary was broadcast to the world at large via a scrying orb, starting the fame of the duo.[1]

Eventually, Noass and Sir Relz were cast by Wistram Academy for their worldwide system of spyglass broadcasts, commenting on a desk in Pallass on various events worldwide.

As Wistram's news network took shape, Noass specialized on being the host of the broadcast and delivering the news, while Sir Relz provided snappy comments.[3][4]

Quotes[edit | edit source]

  • (To Erin) “And some of us are watching the show, Miss Human. You seem to have things well in claw anyways. Do you think some of the adventurers who just fought out there would mind coming to the door so we could congratulate them? The Silver Swords did an excellent job, as did the Halfseekers. Taking down a Face-Eater Moth in the sky like that, my word, what a show!”
  • (To viewers) “I believe, Noass, this is what we were made for. I’m observing two teams here. Is that the Horns of Hammerad I see?”
  • (To viewers) “I think since we’ve lost our ah, [Mage] with Captain Rasea—I hope the fellow is alright—we should move to a complaint lodged against our broadcast yesterday. Miss Drassi? I will see what this news from Terandria is—”
  • (To Drassi and viewers) “Erin Solstice. Yes, I recall her. The proprietress of The Wandering Inn. She is…dead. Isn’t she? Killed during a raid by the city of Hectval in…oh.”
  • (To viewers) “I think we just lost Grand Magus Eldavin. This was—I apologize to all my Drake viewers. This—this—this can’t be—I’ve read my history books. It’s biased. Seditious!”
  • (To Noass) “Noass. I’m not going to make it. Take my monocle.”
