Dragial is a Drake and a Wall Lord of Fissival.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Dragial is a handsome Drake, with turquoise and pearl scales that are a product of magic affecting him as a child. He has battle scars which do not take away from his good looks. He wears mage's armor, a high-collared cloak with Fissival's crest on the back.[1]

Personality[edit | edit source]

Dragial is obsessed with Mershi, to the point of madness. He is driven to recover the Blade of Mershi from Lehra Ruinstrider which he believes rightfully belongs to him. He believes it also a key to the location of the Walled City Mershi and a literal key to the Forge of the Star Dragon and an armory of similarly powerful relics.[2] As such, he will go to great lengths to retrieve it, to the point of rampaging through Drake towns.[3] Dragial is deluded of his own righteousness and is incapable of believing he is in the wrong or will lose.

Background[edit | edit source]

Dragial was obsessed with Mershi even back when he was a Spell Lord. He taught a class on dead Walled Cities and gathered loyal fanatics to his cause.[2] He was known to ruin people's careers and reputations if they did not accede to his will.[4]

The Ruinstrider Tribe, a small, minor Gnoll tribe known for searching old ruins[3], was hired by Dragial to find clues to the fallen Walled City of Stars.[2] Lehra Ruinstrider, one of the gnolls, was on a searching team that found the Blade of Mershi. They brought it to Dragial and wanted a fair price or perhaps to auction it, but, at least in Lehra's memory, Dragial betrayed them. After this, Lehra picked up the Blade, which chose her. [5] Ever since, Dragial has pursued Lehra all over Izril, rampaging through cities and even trying to hold her tribe hostage once.[2]

Because of this, Fissival was forced to expel him, letting him keep his title but having his estates given to his family and removing him as its head.[2] But secretly, Fissival kept supporting and funding him.[4]

Chronology[edit | edit source]

Dragial and Stargazer’s Promise fought in a Drake town. After their forces were already in combat, Dragial broke through the town's wall with a giant battle Golem. Lehra Ruinstrider and Niila, the former trying to arrest Dragial, declared a truce and worked together against him. As Niila distracted him, Lehra was able to activate the Blade of Mershi, and combat continued.[3]

_

A representative of Dragial sent a [Message] to Wall Lord Ilvriss Gemscale regarding his headhunting.[6]

_

After the reveal of Drakes suppressing Gnollish magic, Dragial appeared on scrying orbs defending Drakes and denying the reveal.[7]

_

Dragial assumed control of the army sent by Fissival to the Gnoll Meeting of Tribes. He ruminates on the plans he has for Gnolls and Niers Astoragon's interference in the current affairs.[8] When the Drakes were approaching the Meeting of Tribes, he gave orders to the Mage Throwers and the army sent by Manus, then made a speech to his army and scrying orbs. As his forces prepared to charge, Wall Lord Ilvriss Gemscale of Salazsar led his forces into his army, attacking them.[1]

As Ilvriss came for Dragial, he teleported across the battlefield, then managed to pick up the fallen Blade of Mershi. Saturniel Cometscale asked the trial question, which Dragial got wrong, and ejected him from the magical space contained within the Blade. Lehra Ruinstrider recovered the blade and kicked him away, whereupon he began scrambling away, calling for help. Halfway through teleporting away, Seborn Sailwinds stabbed him with an [Anchoring Stab], but had to flee from Dragial's reinforcements. Dragial sent an unsuccessful [Deathbolt] at Chieftain Werri. The gold-rank adventuring team Halfseekers entered the area and pursued him alongside Stargazer’s Promise until the half-giant Moore caught him and squeezed him to death.[9]

After his death a statue of him wielding the Blade of Mershi was erected in his honor in Fissival, funded by an anonymous donor.[10]

Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]

Dragial is a master of Golem Artificing, summoning, and is considered ranked above a veteran [Battlemage].[2] He was able to singlehandedly face-off against two adventuring teams, one of them Named-rank.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Despite being a renegade of Fissival and being wanted by them, Dragial still has his supporters who fund him. Moreso, he was chosen to lead Fissival's armies against the Meeting of the Tribes, which either speaks to his influence or suggests that his exile was a sham.

Quotes[edit | edit source]

  • (To Lehra) “Lehra Ruinstrider! The Forge of the Star Dragon will be mine! Give me the artifact or I will reduce this town to ash and rubble!”
  • (To Niila) “Traitorous child!”
  • (To Hexa) “Appropriate, General Hexa. The Fraerling himself. A sufficiently small bottle should do. We can mail him to the Iron Vanguard.”
