Hunters

From The Wandering Inn Wiki

[Hunter] is a job description as well as a (mostly ranged) combat-oriented class with many different subclasses.

Background[edit | edit source]

While [Hunters] are present in most areas of the world, some groups are more notable for having more and better ones: Plains Gnolls (as they live a nomadic lifestyle) and Noelictus in Terandria, detailed below. But of course, there are other famous and high-leveled hunters with different backgrounds as well. Even Antinium and Drakes can become specialized [Hunters]. Some classes centered around seeking something may have "Hunter" in their name, but are not part of the combat-oriented classes discussed.

Noelictus, the Kingdom of Shade, is very famous for its most important export good, which is [Hunters] and their hats,[1] as it is home to the Hunters' Guild of Terandria. They have extensive knowledge of monster types, so much that Humans all over the world would first ask them for information rather than use local sources.[2]

Pallass Hunting is a Plains-Gnoll operated business that offers a hunting environment for City Gnolls who wish to explore their rich heritage in a fun, sportive setting.[3] Liscor Hunted is a business that offers a more authentic and dangerous experience in the Floodplains, with [Hunters] and retired veterans running weekly 'tours' and finding miserable places for their customers to survive in.[4]

Subclasses[edit | edit source]

First, there is the regular [Hunter] class. Male [Hunters] may be called [Huntsmen] and female ones [Huntresses], but the generic term [Hunters] always fits. Related basic classes with similar skillsets are [Scout] and [Ranger] and probably [Survivor]/[Survivalist].

Note: it is possible that some of these classes are not actual [Hunters], or that a hunter-type class was missed. Further recommended information: List of Classes

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The first professional [Hunter] to be mentioned specifically in the story was Jerad Riels[5]. Selys was already revealed to have a few levels as [Huntress] much earlier, however[6]
  • [Druids] have issues with certain [Hunters]: Those who overhunt; who disturb the natural order; who hunt for sport and pleasure and let their prey go to waste; and who are inflicting unneccessary pain to their prey.[7]
  • Dierr and Deirr are both Gnoll Hunters, but live continents apart
  • [Hunter] is a common class in Liscor due to the Floodplains.[4]
