Rickel is an Earther who currently resides in Oteslia.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

He is a young man that wears a jacket with a hoodie that is able to be buttoned up, comfortable green pants with a slash of white down each side, and a complementary undershirt with Oteslia’s own regalia on it.[1]

Personality[edit | edit source]

Rickel is an amiable young man with a cunning streak. As the mastermind behind the Golden Triangle, he conned thousands of gold coins from thousands of people, for which he showed little to no remorse.[2] He often bumbles around and acts flustered to keep people off-guard. Adept at hiding his tracks, Rickel successfully concealed his identity as the Golden Triangle's leader and smuggle hundreds of thousands of gold pieces' worth of treasure, art, and coins from the Merchant's Guild without nary a trace. He is highly adaptable, seen with him immediately betraying the Earthtenders to help the Gentleman Callers after suspecting they were connected to another Earther.[1] He was also able to deduce something was going on with Cire, having observed that some of his minders were [Actors] in disguise.

Having reaped the majority of the profits from the Golden Triangle, Rickel enjoyed his time in Innworld, treating it like a game. However, it starts losing its luster after getting involved in a gang war between the Earthtenders and the Brotherhood of Serendipitous Meetings. Though initially self-confident, believing himself key to the Brothers' victory, he stops having a good time after narrowly avoiding burning to death and being shot in the leg with an arrow.[3]

Background[edit | edit source]

In Oteslia, Rickel established a pyramid scheme called The Golden Triangle, which recruited hundreds of "investors" across Izril and even other continents.[2] It's fraudulent nature was revealed in a worldwide broadcast by the Archmages Feor, Viltach, and Nailihuaile, inciting multiple riots across Izril.[4] While some of the top investors were killed by rioters, Rickel was able to escape scrutiny, along with most of the profits.

Chronology[edit | edit source]

Volume 8[edit | edit source]

When Wilovan and Ratici came to The Dragon's Horde to discuss their issues with the leader of the Earthtenders, Poruniv, Rickel took a liking to their style. He made a bet on them and helped them to escape after they failed to kill Poruniv.[1] Rickel later came around to see them and a potential Earther only to realize that Lyonette was not from Earth, but she knew people that were. Rickel introduced her to coffee, and Lyonette helped him talk to Ilvriss as well as other interested parties to set up mass production. Rickel further helped out by bribing one of the Faces of the Earthtenders, Ecleeif, to stay away from the two Gentlemen Callers.[2]
