The Claiven Earth, or just Claiven, is a nation of Half-Elves located in the far north of Chandrar.
Overview[edit | edit source]
Culture[edit | edit source]
They love nature and model themselves after the ancient villages, with vast trees in imitation of the ancient forests. Though those trees are not magical trees of old, but overfed hybrids that need constant care, else they would likely die within a decade on their own. A given tree might be over 400 feet tall, with cracks and divots large enough to build a home in. As it is a smaller nation, the cities expand vertically,[1] and the citizens live in tree-based houses, with walkways that stretch up thousands of feet.[2] Their settlements are filled with a lot of woodwork, bent or magically grown, and used as substitute for what would commonly be made with steel.[1] They hate necromancy due to how it kills life-magic and nature, threatening their trees. They value the lives of their citizens.[3]
The nation is reclusive and usually keeps to itself, though not as much as Khelt, and they are willing to leave their borders to wage war.[3] They are generally inclined to provide any passing species courtesy, if not aid, even if they may join with an enemy nation.[4]
Geography[edit | edit source]
The Claiven Earth is located in the far north Chandrar, with the Zeikhal Desert being to their west, with the Shield Kingdom of Merreid being the closest nation to them.[5] To the east they have Medain, and to the south, Belchan.[6]
If travellers take the most direct sea route from Izril, they would land around the Claiven Earth.[4]
Locations[edit | edit source]
Military[edit | edit source]
The Claiven Earth is considered a strong nation, and dangerous to attack.
Archers[edit | edit source]
Half-Elves are renown for being formidable archers, and Claiven Earth's forces use magical arrows.[3]
Fables of the Forest[edit | edit source]
Led in the past by Ierwyn the Herald of Forests, the Fables of the Forest was the Claiven Earth most feared company. They riders are presumably all deceased due to a war that happened centuries ago. Despite that, thanks to Ierwyn's [A Fraction of My Experience] Skill, she can temporally have them be reborn with all their might from a thousand regular [Riders], even if they are from an allied army.[3]
Mage of Rivers[edit | edit source]
Claiven Earth's other Named rank equivalent, Joreldyn the Mage of Rivers is an old and powerful Hydromancer.[3]
History[edit | edit source]
The nation was founded long ago by half-Elves from Terandria, who created a forest along the coast. The nation is old enough to remember timeperiods when Khelt expended.[3]
The Claiven Earth fought Flos during his conquests, and were never conquered by him, though they still fell under his aegis when he effectively conquered the continent.
Foreign Relationships[edit | edit source]
Reim[edit | edit source]
Claiven is on the very short list of nations never conquered by Flos Reimarch, the King of Destruction. They hate him and pose a threat towards him.[6]
Belchan[edit | edit source]
It is unknown what their relationships in the past was, but after they saw the broadcast about a Gnoll tribe being slaughtered by one of Belchan’s villages, under the neglect of Prime Minister Lyfelt, they and a few other nations declared war against Belchan.[4]
It is currently unknown what the relationships between them is now that Lyfelt had finally been judged, thus officially ending the war between them.[7]
Medain[edit | edit source]
Medain and the Claiven Earth dislike each other and often fight. They currently have a ceasefire of fifteen years.[3]
Khelt[edit | edit source]
The Claiven Earth dislikes Khelt and its undead rulers, due to their hatred of necromancy. They worry about its death magic seeping into their lands, which can incite them to war if Khelt's forces leave its borders.[3]
