Interlude – A Night in the Inn

Hexel Quithail is a Lamia and one of the best [Architects] in Baleros. He was hired by Liscor's Council to oversee the expansion and construction of the city.

Hexel has bright yellow scales.[1] He possesses two Human-like arms; and a more bipedal upper body. While his lower, serpentine half is long, trailing behind him. While ‘standing’ he is at average height. He has a scar on one cheek.[2]

Personality edit edit source

As a Lamia, Hexel is generally more mature and wiser than the average Lizardfolk by nature, though he retains their emblemetic cheerfulness.[3] He was traumatized by a Drake attack that ended in the massacre of most of his team, leading to a general distrust of Drakes and a fear of the sight of blood.[4][5] However, he has displayed signs of recovery, especially after entering a relationship with Elirr Fultpar. He has a strict professional attitude, evident by his decision to continue on to Liscor after the attack, and maintains his nature with other Drakes, though with a slightly aggressive edge.[2]

Hexel is highly intelligent, as befit his abilities as one of Baleros' greatest [Architects]. He can accomplish almost any task that he puts mind to, such as winning a chess game while blindfolded and tickled.[6] He is innovative with his work, coming up with multiple plans for Liscor after a only preliminary look.

Hexel specializes in cities that deal with water, and has designed a new palace in Terandria, a city for the Iron Vanguard, and three cities himself.[7]

In his younger years, he toured parts of Chandrar to look at some architectural marvels. He saw the Shield Kingdom Merreid and some of the forts made by Drevish at this time.[4]

Volume 6: edit edit source

After Liscor's new council was established, they decided that change was needed for their city. One of these changes was hiring Hexel as a rather famous [Architect] to help design and redesign new sections of Liscor along with other help he could provide. Although there was initial disagreement, the council did eventually come to terms with the fact that he was the best option for their budget and needs.[7]

It wasn't until later that Hexel finally did arrive at Liscor. He was attacked part-way through his journey and ended up losing many of his helpers, but he still agreed to stay with guarantees of protection. Hexel stayed at the Wandering Inn and also offered his services to Erin at this time.[2]

Besides redesigning and overseeing the city building process, he was also available for other projects such as building soccer fields,[8] building containment units for the Raskhgar,[9] and even helping design a secure entryway and security system for Erin's Magical Door.[10]

Throughout this whole designing process, Hexel was often in the company of Elirr, one of Liscor's council members. They soon developed a relationship with one another which they had to keep secret due to the stigma against turnscales. This didn't stop others from finding out like Mrsha, Krshia, and Saliss.[4]

After Erin's death, Hexel continued to stay at the inn seeing as how it was mainly used as living quarters for himself anyway. When Belavierr attacked though, he decided to find a safer and more private living space with Elirr.[11]

Volume 9: edit edit source

Hexel continued designing and constructing many buildings in and around Liscor. After Erin was brought back to life, she showed Hexel plans for a new inn designed by Drevish the Architect. He told her that he could build the design as soon a she can find the funds. [12] He also spoke with Pawn about designing a chapel for the antinium, going through various designs until they settled on a design that is reminiscent of Stonehenge. [13]

His scales are larger than a Drake’s, and his body is agile, with a form suited for intelligence and spellcasting.[2] His tail is powerful enough to squeeze a Drake to death.[1]
