Available maps are collected in the maps category. Note that they are mostly reader interpretations.
Short descriptions of the continents, as well as some fan-made maps, may be found in the article Innworld.
Maps of Izril[edit | edit source]
Selys drew an impromptu map of Izril for Erin once, teaching her some basic geographical facts of Izril.[1]
Magical Maps[edit | edit source]
A 2000 years old map is inserted in the stone table of Manus where the leaders of that Walled City confer. Those magical maps can only be created with knowledge of the terrain, which is the reason why unexplored areas are blurred. Also, even magical maps don't update themselves.[2] Similar magical maps, that even allow zooming, are available in Salazsar, in 'magical map rooms'.[3]
Niers Astoragon has a large map archive for his company, which probably contains maps for most locations. There is at least one magical map of Izril that allows a three-dimensional view.[4]
Fissival's Teleportarium has an accurate map of Izril within, including the new lands. It also has indicators for every Drake city, including the old destroyed ones.[5]
Continental layout[edit | edit source]
In Volume 2, Ryoka introduced the continents of the world to Erin, by placing chess and kitchen pieces on a table of Erin's Inn. According to that scene, Issrysil (Izril) is the central continent (a pawn), surrounded by Terandria in the North (a saltshaker), the humid jungle continent in the Southwest, the blighted continent in the Northeastern corner and the desert continent in the Southeastern corner (probably the napkin).[6] In the following chapter, the remaining continents were officially named.[7]
- Note: Ryoka had done some reading at that point in the story, but her knowledge seems questionable. For example, she really wished to see Teriarch's world map, indicating that she hadn't seen a proper one before, when she studied books during her injury downtime.[8]
In Volume 6, the United Nations company acquired maps and confirmed several facts: Chandrar is the southernmost continent, while only Terandria and Baleros spread far enough to the north to have areas where it is cold and snowy all year round.[9]
Aside from the continents, there are also several important groups of islands. As far as we know, the Drath Archipelago is located east of Izril[10], Wistram might be southeast from Terandria and the Isles of Minos are east of Chandrar.[11]
Mentions of Geography[edit | edit source]
Continental
Interlude - King Edition: "But far south and to the west [of Liscor], upon another continent, [Chandrar]—the dry air was turning orange slower, blooming crimson like a great flower."
Chapter 1.34: [Beastkin] come from another continent further to the west [of Izril], Baleros
Izril
Chapter 1.24:
- "multiple armies of Goblins rampaged throughout the north [of Izril] and sailed across to the Human continent, Terandria..." I heard the north [of Izril] was ash in some parts of it. They nearly took First Landing.”
- "The [herds] are usually confined in villages to the north of Liscor."
- "There’s only two ways into [Liscor's] valley. North and south. The mountains are practically impassable, and the Bloodfields guard the southern border."
- "The Liscorian army fights wherever. I think they were in the east, fighting near one of the Walled Cities. Oteslia, probably."
1.27 R
- "The north has a strained relationship with the south, which I think you should bear in mind if ever you go past Esthelm and deliver to a Drake city."
1.32 R
- "[During the First Antinium War] Antinium soldiers established huge colonies across the western coast where it bordered the High Passes, razing cities and forcing Gnoll tribes to retreat into the lower plains regions. Initially, the southern Drake cities and allied confederacies were slow to react to the Antinium sweeping through the plateaus and rugged mountainous regions of the continent."

- "Everyone calls it Izril. It looks…like this.” Selys drew on the piece of paper and outlined a body of land that looked vaguely like a triangle up top, but narrowed near the center and became vaguely shoe-shaped near the bottom. It was fairly ovoid in total, though, or maybe that was just the result of Selys’ drawing skills." “Okay, this is roughly where all you Humans live. See? The entire northern part of the continent except where the mountains start. From here…to…here.” Erin peered at the giant squiggly oval Selys drew around the northern section of the continent.
- Then she added small triangles for mountains two-thirds up the map, a long line of them stretching across the continent, nearly cutting the top third off from the bottom. “And here’s Liscor. See, we’re the only way through the High Passes. Technically, there’s a route through the mountain range over here…but it’s infested with monsters. And of course the coastal routes to the east and west.” Selys drew arrows through two sections of the mountain range and circled the small dot where Liscor was. That was roughly in the center of the map, where the continent was narrowest. Erin wasn’t good at geography—or topography—or whatever maps were, but it looked like Liscor was in a valley of some sorts. “See, that’s why Liscor is so important. Without us, any goods have to go by land or sea all the way around the continent or brave the High Passes." “Oh. But if all the Humans live in the north, what about the south? Are they all…Gnolls and Drakes?” “And Antinium, but only in the Hivelands. Right along the northwestern coast below the High Passes, see?
- Selys shook her head as she began marking the bottom half of the map. She pointed out a small area in the lower half of Izril along the mountains and coastal range. A corner of the south. “Here are the five known Antinium colonies outside of Liscor. Past this point is their territory. The Hivelands.”
Chapter 1.36
- There’s over a hundred miles between [Liscor] and Celum.
Chandrar
Interlude - King Edition
"[From Flos's Palace] he gazed into the distance where the greatest desert in the world lay... He had seen the buried city to the south"
"The Emperor of the Sands leads his armies across the deserts even now! The other nations break their armies upon his forces as he rises in the west. Nerrhavia sits fat and indolent to the south, and Medain pushes ever southwards against Jecrass and Belchan. While our people starve, Germina’s agents flit about, and the Quarass and Hellios test our borders."
"Even now, foreign armies hold your lands and impose their laws upon your people. From Sottheim to Tiqr—they are checked"
