Marquin, also known as Marquin the Radiant, was one of the heroes of the Creler Wars, and the first [Queen] of Calanfer.
Appearance[edit | edit source]
She was a huge,[1] muscular woman, with bright blue eyes,[2] a mane of light brown hair, that was rather like a lion’s, and had a single breast, due to having amputated the other one.[3]

Marquin had a boisterous personality, and an unrefined manner of speaking, which clashed with her kingdom's reputation of propriety and diplomats. While a great warrior, after the Creler Wars, she had no desire to kill anymore, and only took up arms six times after that. She was highly critical of the fact that the diplomatic strengths of Calanfer came at the cost of their military power. She has a low opinion of light magic, and objected to light as a motif for Calanfer's knights. She wishes she told her descendants to build up strength in preparation for other enemies.[3]
Background[edit | edit source]
Marquin fought during the end of the Creler Wars. When Rhir was reclaimed, she chose to listen to Czkelcill Mirrex and returned to Terandria, rather than stay to help found the Blighted Kingdom or venture deeper to find what created the Crelers. She was awarded the lands of Calanfer and awarded a Dragonthrone by the Dragons for her heroism.
As a Queen, she put down her sword and sought diplomacy instead. She made peace with everyone she could, from [Barbarians] to Cyclopes to Goblins. [3]

- According to Erin, Marquin's personality would make her more like as if she were Jelaqua’s mom, rather than Lyonette's ancestor.[2]
- In Wistram Academy, there is an animated mural of Marquin battling the Crelers during the Creler Wars. The mural also acts as a secret doorway.[5]
