Metals and Minerals

From The Wandering Inn Wiki

List of Metals and Minerals[edit | edit source]

Adamantium[edit | edit source]

Also known as Adamantium and Adamantine. Toughest pure metal in Innworld. Appears deep red with fiery orange, may shift color depending on how light hits it,[1] and is naturally dull unless polished. Heavier than steel.[2] It does not rust or decay.[1]

Smithing it is a true sign of mastery[2], and [Smiths] fight over Artifacts that will allow them work it. When being taught how to forge Adamantium, it is traditional for [Smiths] to forge a bit of it, and then toss it into magma. If it is whole when retrieved, that means it was forged correctly.[3]

It is rarer than diamonds, not hard until it has been processed, and easy to miss while mining. Thus, it is sometimes mistaken for a weak mineral or clay even when it is found.[4]

Ambercrystal[edit | edit source]

Mine mineral.[5]

Balelight Stone[edit | edit source]

A glowing yellow radioactive stone.[6]

Chameth-marble / Chemath marble[edit | edit source]

A type of black-as-obsidian marble that look like nothing but waves of midnight, even under the sun. One of the most powerful materials for holding magic.[7] It used to be mined from Chandrar’s lightless ore-mines of Zethe.[8]

Chitrx Metal[edit | edit source]

A metal made by the Antinium. Klbkch's swords are made of this.[9]

Corundum[edit | edit source]

Tough ore, said to be able to make a steel pickaxe dull in seconds.[10]

Demas Metal[edit | edit source]

A new magical alloy discovered by Mrell and named after his deceased mentor, the exiled Dwarf [Smelter] Demastel. Colored cloudy blue to violet depending on the weather and the position of the moons. It's composition includes Orichalcum and some sort of sea-stone. It can be made in greater quantity than Adamantium, Mithril, or pure Orichalcum items.

It's stronger and lighter than steel, and comparable to Mithril while being a bit heavier[2], but lacks the elasticity to make bows out of it[11]. It leaves an afterimage when striking with it.

It possesses a special ability, in which any liquid that comes into contact with it will form a second coating on top, giving weapons a longer reach and second edge, and making armour thicker. It is comparable to a Liquidtouch Enchantment, but can do this unenchanted.[2] It also works with fire, and electricity for a few seconds.[12]

Dragonblood Crystal[edit | edit source]

Also known as Cridel, the deadly blood of Baleros, is a red-gold crystal that cuts sharp and hurts whomever it touches. The crystal could cut mere steel, and its edge is so sharp that just laying it pointed down on an anvil, it cut into the iron.

If a blade made from it and Truegold, is treated with care, it shall last a year of war. A decade without. A century if only worn about and carried like a heirloom. But while it lasts, it will cut down anything it touches.[13]

Dwarfsteel (Titanium)[edit | edit source]

Dwarfsteel is a type of metal named after Dwarves as they were the one who discovered it. This metal may be Earth's version of Titanium as they have the same look, although Titanium is lighter.[14] Confirmed to be indeed Titanium.[1]

Echirite[edit | edit source]

Topaz-like mineral, but not as transparent and with an inner sparkle. Stores electricity within and releases it when struck.[15] It's used as a benchmark for magical power in Salazsar, and used to be rated as a unit of measurement to calculate the intensity of spells, between Magirite and Seith.[16]

Grasgil[edit | edit source]

Also known as The Frozen Metal, The Cold Metal, and Bronzewater, is a liquid green metal that needs to be frozen while working it out. Has a dark cyan appearance when forged.[17]

Heitbane Granite[edit | edit source]

Heitore[edit | edit source]

A heavy, dark grey, rough, granite-like rock substance which can rival Adamantium for strength, though is still breakable under enough pressure.[18]

Iveine Stone[edit | edit source]

A type of stone that is not granite, or regular stone, that has an odd green-tinge that resembles mold.[19]

Joi-marble[edit | edit source]

Joi-marble is a treated magic marble. It is a poor conductor for magic and is used for insulation and containment.[20]

Magicore[edit | edit source]

Also known as Mana Sludge is a type of mana-infused rock that is close to unrefined raw mana, in physical form. If the right magics is apply to it, it can turn it into a mana stone of unrivalled quality. It takes years or decades for the mana sludge to slowly condense, and crystallize into mana stones.[21]

Known Elements: Earth, Fire, Thunder, Light, Void, Acid.

Mithril[edit | edit source]

Extremely lightweight and tough metal. Has a gleaming white-silver appearance, and doesn't age like other metals.[22] Alloys gain a green tinge over thousands of years.[23]

Because of its lightness, it's good for lightweight armour but bad for weapons as it will have no weight behind its blows, and a composite metal is preferable. While stronger than steel, it is also more malleable and needs to be cut with a stronger alloy.[24] It requires less heat to smith than titanium.[25]

Naq-Alrama[edit | edit source]

A type of complex steel with a near-unbreakable durability, the ability to hold magic and the innate power to pierce magical enchantments and harm Djinnis.[26] The forging process is incredibly complicated, and failure at any step can irreparably ruin the ingot and render it useless. It is completely inflexible, to the point that the entire piece will shatter if enough force is exerted.

Orichalcum[edit | edit source]

A purple magical alloy,[12] between Mirthril and Adamantium in rarity.[27] It is stated to not be mined, yet there are veins of orichalcum ore, or a component mineral referred to as such, which resembles and can be mistaken for purple quartz. Crafting it includes pure copper and pure gemstones, as well as a secret mixture and knowledge of gemwork.[25]

Pithite[edit | edit source]

A purple-black rock that igniting the air around it in flames with its sheer magical fire, burning everything around it.[18]

Platinum[edit | edit source]

Platinum is a metal used in jewelry and magical Artifacts. It is a little less strong than steel but durable enough to be used in jewelry. It is more common than Mithril but less common than Gold.

Serraleun (Aluminum)[edit | edit source]

Serraleun is Innworld's version of Aluminum. It was discovered by Humans ages ago, and while it is a tricky metal to work, Chandrarian [Smiths] have worked with it before. It’s also one of the many metals that goes into making Naq-Alrama steel.[28]

Shadowgloom Gem[edit | edit source]

Purple gemstone.[29]

Soulstone[edit | edit source]

Starmetal[edit | edit source]

Magical alloy made in Mershi, the City of Stars. Resembles silver, but is more advanced than mithril and near-indestructible.[30]

Tipath Ore[edit | edit source]

Treecopper[edit | edit source]

Resembles copper.[31]

Truegold[edit | edit source]

A rarer alloy resembling gold,[2] used to make ghost-slaying weaponry.[17][13] Comparable to steel and below mithril in quality.[32]

Truestone[edit | edit source]

Pinnacle of magical stone. It can turn into any other mineral and back, save for the most complex composites like Naq-Alrama steel.[33]

Vetil[edit | edit source]

Conductive Metal for Magic. Used in Artifacts.[3]

Violet Dusker[edit | edit source]

Purple gemstone.[29]

Zap Topaz[edit | edit source]

A type of stone that generates lightning.[18]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

According to Pelt, every possible metals, alloys, and fusions of stone have already been made by the Dwarves, and any "new discoveries" are actually just rediscovered.[2]
