The Frost Wyvern Lord (No Name) is a Greater Wyvern and the Alpha leader of the Frost Wyverns that came from the High Passes.
Appearance[edit | edit source]
He has pearl white and blue scales, and as a Greater Wyvern he is huge compared to the average wyvern. He's in his prime and not yet fully matured.[1]
Personality[edit | edit source]
He is intensely focused on his Weyr's wellbeing, along with securing food and territory. He has developed an intense rivalry and hostility toward Teriarch and Dragons, but is also attracted to Rafaema. As a Frost Wyvern, he dislikes hot temperature and finds bugs unappealing to eat.
Background[edit | edit source]
The Frost Wyvern who would become the Wyvern Lord was born in a Weyr in the upper High Passes. The Weyr used to do well under the leadership of six Wyvern Lords and a Wyvern Queen. After the queen's death by unknown details, the Weyr began experiencing misfortune and the old Lords started dying one by one, with the last three being killed by Velan as he made his way up to hide his treasure. The Wyvern Lord took leadership of the Weyr, but the Wyverns were threatened with being picked off by the hairy inhabitants of the upper Passes. As fighing them directly would weaken both sides enough to be wiped out by other dangers, the Wyvern Lord chose instead to lead the Weyr to the lower High Passes.[2]
Chronology[edit | edit source]
Volume 7[edit | edit source]
The Wyvern Lord and his Weyr challenged Teriarch in the High Passes, but were easily defeated.[3] As a result, the Weyr left the High Passes, in order to expand their clutch somewhere with more food. They flew over Liscor and travelled south past it, ignoring it because it wasn't big enough and Wyvern hated bugs.[4]
By the time they reached Pallass, the Wyvern Lord was angry because of the long flight and hot temperature. The Wyverns avoided the bait set up by Pallass' 4th Army because he sensed the magic in the nearby forrest. The magic from the Walled City felt like the Dragon's, making him more determined to capture the 'magic mountain'.
Pallass initially held off the Weyr with its siege weapons and wall spells, but were caught by surprise when they polled their frost breath into one attack which froze the entire northern wall and the defenders on top, preventing the [Cage of Pallass] from being activated and letting the wyverns descend upon the city.[5]
During the Wyvern's sacking of Pallass, the Wyvern Lord would fight Grimalkin. The Greater Wyvern was initially winning the engagement until General Duln of the 1st Army came to reinforce the [Sinew Magus]. He started being attacked by Relc and the Flamewardens with the Heartflame Breastplate as well. Then Saliss came after the other Wyverns refused to leave because of their leader, hitting the Greater Wyvern with a combination attack from potions. Finally, Bird tried to shoot him in the eye, and the trebuchets were reclaimed and fired upon him. Tired from fighting, beset from all sides, and the possibility of losing growing by the moments, the Wyvern Lord finally retreated with the remainder of his Weyr.[6]
He initially headed south but eventually returned to the High Passes. The Wyvern Lord's poor leadership meant he had to put down six challengers on his way back. He attacked Goblinhome to reclaim their territory, and to vent his anger about the Drakes managing to hurt him. He felt more confident about taking this fortress because he didn't sense much magic capacity from the Goblins in comparison. But they were greatly reduced and Goblinhome had built up its defenses.
Failing again, the Wyvern Lord retreated, defeating another challenger as he left. Teriarch sent a bounty on Frost Wyverns to the Mage's Guilds, and priced the Wyvern Lord at 80,000 gold pieces.[7]
Volume 8[edit | edit source]
When Rafaema ventured into the High Passes, the Wyvern Lord could smell she was a Dragon, and her fight against Gargoyles and Eater Goats made him think she was encroaching on his territory. He ambushed her, and proved decisively superior and more experienced. But Ressa appeared to help Rafaema, attacking the Wyvern Lord by surprise and fending him off. Then Gargoyle Bossels and shapeshifter monster were attracted by the fighting. Everyone stoped and fled briefly when a Void Goat came.[1]
The Lightning Dragon and Greater Wyvern fought each other for an hour. Rafaema decided to end the battle by accepting her defeat, giving the Wyvern Lord her possessions as an act of submission.[8]
Powers and Abilities[edit | edit source]
The Frost Wyvern Lord can breath frost and fly. He can sense magic and possesses spell resistance, making it immune to low-tier spells and enchantments. It's physically tough, able to survive a combination attack from Saliss of Lights, and even its eye membrane can stop an arrow from piercing through.[6]
