Chapter 9.29

Linvios Reiscale, known primarily by his sobriquet the Maestro, is the leader of the assassin-mercenary group Symphony.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

His scales are a deep sapphire, gone a bit grey with age. His eyes are like a faintly silverine plant, with green irises tinged crimson at the exterior, unfolding in petals of subtle patterns.[1]

He wears a suit and looks dignified in it.

Personality[edit | edit source]

Linvios is courteous, with a strong sense of honor. A musician and an art-lover, he holds a strong appreciation for aesthetics and isn't above showing off or "injecting some class in the moment". Additionally, he acknowledges the mastery and abilities of others when warranted, shown when he saluted the Thief of Clouds for simultaneously catching several arrows and blades midair.[1] As an assassin, he is heedful not to harm innocents and disapproves of taking hostages. For all that, Linvios is ruthless and willing to torture to attain his goals, evident when he threatened Erin Solstice with bodily harm in order to get her to give him a <Quest>. He can be slightly cheeky, as when he compensated Erin with a 50% coupon for a performance as an "apology."[2]

Background[edit | edit source]

He's been a Gold-bell duelist for thirty years. He's met Pisces' father twice.[1] He has been Deniusth's nemesis for decades, though neither have bested the other in a duel.

Thirty years ago when he and Deniusth were still Silver-bell duelists, he was the best man at his friend Itreus' wedding. Deniusth answered the obligatory invitation and attended just to spite Linvios. He and Itreus drifted away after that day, and Linvios began selling his services as an [Assassin], building up Symphony's reputation as Salazsar’s assassin-group for hire.[3]

Chronology[edit | edit source]

Volume 9[edit | edit source]

The Maestro accepted a contract on Sellme for vandalizing a museum in Salazsar, as one of the destroyed paintings was a cultural masterpiece and another, depicting his best friend's wedding, held sentimental value for him. He prevented Tolveilouka from killing Pisces and Ksmvr, then coordinated his team to kill Sellme. The initial attempt failed and Symphony pursued Tesy. He engaged Lulv and drew away the most dangerous combatants when the fighting grew chaotic. He prevented Tesy from entering the Garden of Sanctuary, but he was too well defended still, but the First Flute managed to hold Erin hostage. He negotiated the release of his team, and forced Erin to post a <Heroic Quest>.[1]

During the tournament, he ensures that most of Symphony's strongest members stayed in the battle, ordering weaker members to leave when the fighting grew bloodier. He also dueled Pisces, deliberately teaching him and making sure no one else tried to knock him out of the tournament either. When Zeladona exited the Wandering Inn, he and all of Symphony were the first ones to challenge her. [3]

After the tournament, he gave Erin a letter giving 50% off the price of their services.[4]
