Chapter 6.03 is the 4th chapter of Volume 6 and Book 10, The Wind Runner.

tl;dr[edit | edit source]

Erin, overwhelmed by grief, realizes she can’t stay in her inn and declares Lyonette, Mrsha, and Numbtongue her family, revealing she’s from another world. Numbtongue, inheriting Pyrite’s memories, gains new skills but feels lost until Erin secures a document recognizing him as a person. Lyonette takes over managing the inn while Erin plans to travel—perhaps to Pallass, the Gnoll tribes, or Salazsar. The story ends with Numbtongue performing a song of Goblin defiance and remembrance, receiving applause for the first time, and leveling up with [Song of Rejuvenation], finally finding a home.

Synopsis[edit | edit source]

Erin Solstice, overwhelmed with grief and guilt after the slaughter of the Goblins who defended Liscor, finds herself unable to stay in her inn. The place feels too small, too full of memories of her lost friends. Seeking a way forward, she reconnects with those closest to her—Lyonette, Mrsha, and Numbtongue—solidifying them as her family and revealing to them her secret: that she comes from another world.

Meanwhile, Numbtongue, the last surviving Redfang, struggles with the weight of his losses. Yet, through the mysterious transfer of memories from Pyrite, he gains not only mining knowledge but also sword techniques and insights into Goblin history. Armed with this new awareness, he begins to carve out a new purpose for himself.

Determined to secure a future for Numbtongue, Erin gathers signatures from prominent figures—including Wall Lord Ilvriss, Watch Captain Zevara, and various adventurers—on a document affirming Numbtongue’s rights as a person, not a monster. With this, she plans to take him to Pallass, and perhaps even beyond, as she decides to leave her inn and explore the world.

Lyonette, stepping into a new role, takes charge of the inn, promising to expand and manage it in Erin’s absence. The magic door is improved for easier travel, offering new opportunities. As Erin looks to the north and south for adventure, Krshia invites her to the Gnoll tribes, while Ilvriss extends an offer to visit Salazsar.

The story culminates with Numbtongue embracing his role as a [Bard], standing on stage in The Wandering Inn and singing a Goblin’s song—a song of remembrance, pain, and defiance. For the first time, he is not met with hatred but with applause. With his music, he finds solace, acceptance, and a sense of home, gaining a new Skill: [Song of Rejuvenation].

Erin’s journey is far from over, but for the first time in a long while, there is hope.
