Chapter 8.11 E

Khelta, also known as Queen Khelta, was a powerful Necromancer and the founder of Khelt.

Appearance edit edit source

Described to be "sort of short" by Erin,[2] Khelta's eyes were a pale white with a hint of brown, and her skin coloration was native to Chandrar (probably dark).[3]

Personality edit edit source

Khelta was imperious or impertinent, depending on who you asked. She remembered those who opposed her and humiliated them in the years to come. Later rulers of Khelt may have modeled themselves after her in some ways.[4]

She had always loved the living and the dead equally.[5] However she favored using low-level skeletons over other high-grade undead due to the hardships she witnessed and experienced as a consequence of the Breathless Age.[6]

She seemed to disapprove of Fetohep's crusading and warrior tendencies, viewing him as impetuous.[3]

Background edit edit source

Khelta grew up in a small city called Koirezune, which was eventually lost to time.[7] She lived after the end of Nekhret's Breathless Age, when Chandrar had roaming undead. Traveling the continent, she was inspired to create a nation where the dead would serve and protect the living instead of the other way around.[8]

21,000 years ago, Khelta founded Khelt[1] amid sand and dust with a vision of safety.[5] She named the capital city Koirezune, after her home city.[7] Countless species flocked to the newly founded nation, and her magic was respected like all other kinds. She had walked every land in the world.[5]

She met the Quarass for the first time while staking land for her kingdom. The Quarass mocked her then, but later respected her will. She met six of the Quarass' incarnations in her lifetime.[4]

Khelta attended the Gnolls' Meeting of the Tribes four times. During the first Meeting of Tribes Khelta attended, the last Unicorns of the Vale Forest of Izril came to trade the horns of their dead, and a Dragon attended who demanded a tribe fight for her, which nearly came to a miniature war.[1]

She fought against Roshal in her era.[9]

Khelta was the greatest [Necromancer] (and just as great of a [Queen]) the Quarass has ever met in her thousands of years of existence.[10] She created the pact that provided Khelt's undead legions and workforce. She had won the admiration of countless nations, made Giants tread cautiously, and proved that Khelt was not to be pushed around.[4]

She ruled Khelt for eight hundred years, all while still alive, never becoming a Revenant before her successor took the throne.[11]

Powers and Abilities edit edit source

Khelta was the greatest [Necromancer] the Quarass had ever met.[10] In Kasigna's domain, Khelta was able to cut reality and make a barrier the God could not cross. She was able to summon Erin's soul from across Kasignel. By the weight of her class, Khelta was able to momentarily resist being consumed by Kasigna.[5]

Trivia edit edit source

  • She has a dislike of slavery, and did not treat with or tolerate Roshal during her reign.[3]
  • She has earned the title Glorianemi zeikh, a title awarded to those of Chandrar who have exceeded all others. It is an honored name that can never be taken back.[3]
  • Khelta was regarded as a true master of necromancy even by Dragons.[3]
  • Of all the rulers of Khelt, her reign was the shortest. She was also the only one not to become a Revenant.[3]
  • As Khelta while living had attended the Meeting of Tribes four times, which in those days the tribes gathered every 200 years, this would make her at least 800 years old.[1]
  • She followed the reductive Simplis-style of the Ossis school of Necromancy, which means she was specialized in crafting low-grade undead that could perform many advanced tasks.[11]
  • She was famously bad at math.[14]
  • It was suspected she had a second high-level class.[6]
