Huntsong Chapter 4 — Seraphel is the 4th chapter of Huntsong.

tl;dr

Synopsis

Seraphel is traveling to Menorome, having been forced by her parents to go to the capital and present herself to the royal family before her marriage to Lord Fallien. She is still crying after leaving Culin and Sasi in Afiele, having become close to them in the wake of the [Necromancer] attack. She is snippy towards Dalimont, calling him “Ser Traitor” after he previously forced her to evacuate without the noble family of Afiele. He goes over the history and features of Menorome, which are surrounded by tall, thick walls and mithril gates to withstand undead attack.

Passing through Meronome’s gates, Seraphel and her escort sees the darkness of the City of Repose lit up by thousands of magical candles. Dalimont takes on the role of tour guide, pointing out various sights in the city, which is one of the popular destinations in Terandria. The inhabitants of Meronome are not as somber as those of Afiele’s, though they talk quieter at half volume than most people do in public.

Fire is a common motif in Meronome, with [Firebreathers] and hanging lanterns chasing away the darkness. Many of the inhabitants, when seeing Seraphel, think that the sad-looking [Princess] would be a better fit for Noelictus than they had initially thought. The visiting [King] of Avel while traveling the Nighttrain with his entourage, is annoyed at the prospect of being forced to attend Seraphel’s wedding as a courtesy, though is assured that his presence wouldn’t be necessary.

Seraphel and her escort briefly stop to make room for a group of [Hunters], who are guaranteed “right of way.” With them is a coffin covered in chains.
