Chapter 6.08 is the 9th chapter of Volume 6 and Book 10, The Wind Runner.

Synopsis[edit | edit source]
It’s a duo POV of Apista and Lyonette. It begins with Apista watching Mrsha waking Lyonette up. And when they head out of the room to prepare breakfast, they meet Numbtongue and there’s a pause. Apista notices her master’s distress and prepares to sting him. Numbtongue grabs Apista to stop her but gets stung because of it. Lyonette nurses his wound over breakfast as Erin arrives, announcing her plan to go to Pallass. Today, Lyonette was in charge. Lyonette is happy, having a lot of changes planned. She tells Erin about wanting to check the players of Celum to return and Erin asks her to get some more ashfire honey. Numbtongue had plans to mine. Lyonette goes to Celum, ignoring Octavia as she heads to the players. But to her shock, it’s nearly empty. Telim, a member that she vaguely remembers, tells her about the offers they’d received. And seeing how the inn had been closed for quite some while, they chose to take it, leaving only a few behind. Lyonette is pissed, but still decides they’ll perform that day. She heads to Liscor to buy egg from Krshia only for Lism to suddenly berate her, screaming his head off why a thief like her should be allowed in the city. This starts an argument, and though Lyonette manages to ask about the eggs, she forgets to buy them. As she’s about to return, she sees Apista flying towards her, buzzed out of her mind. She decides to let the bee accompany her as she heads to meet with Zevara. There, she’s subtlety denied a meeting with the ever so busy watch captain, and eventually snaps, finding an excuse to go to the bathroom where she sneaks into the watch captain’s office. Zevara is pissed, but Lyonette uses her now more present princess attitude to calmly dance around the topic of her past crimes, before getting her to agree to pay the fine for her crimes and get her confiscated artifacts back. Then, she heads to Elirr to ask about Apista. After that, she heads to get some honey, but to her horror, she finds that not all bees were inside. The bees that were farther from their home notices something was off and rushes back to find the intruder. They try to kill Lyonette but Apista stops them, attacking them back. The Queen of the hive awakens, upset that her authority was challenged and begins to attack Apista. Apista manages to survive by lighting up in fire, which causes the rest of the bees to do the same. Then they fly around, chasing after Apista and trying to kill her. They run out of steam however, as Apista has more mana due to consuming faerie flower nectar. She manages to fend off the Queen and establish her territory. Apista is happy after getting to fly so much and be free. The chapter ends with Lyonette leveling up.
