tl;dr[edit | edit source]

Synopsis[edit | edit source]

The new lands of Izril attracts attention not just from the local population, but from many others as well. One of those is Doroumata and her fellow Drowned Folk who had escaped from Wistram with three dozen Earthers. Some notable earthers revealed were Lamont, Sidney, Malia, Sang-min, Caroline, Obi, and Haley. The Earthers commiserate about their continued captivity until Douramata herself finds them and explains what she wants from them. She will give them coin for knowledge they share and will arrange passage elsewhere for those that do not want to stay with the drowned people. She wants them to stay, and she wants to be near the new lands, so she tells her crew to send a [Message] to Nombernaught telling them to "weigh Nom's Anchor."

Many drowned vessels came to see the coming event from famous pirate ships like the Illuminary and The Passing Shadow to the Shell Bazaar and Fortseid. In all, nearly 140 ships appeared to see Nombernaught and the event that at that point had not been explained. It brought the famous pirates to tears, and together the crews began to sing.

“I slipped off the deck, and there I drowned

Now I will never leave her

We left land to be born at sea

And we’ll never truly leave her.”

I gave one eye into the deep

And I will never leave her

I breathe water in my sleep

So I will never leave her.

“My family wept upon the land

I wish that I could leave her

I left half my heart on sand

Yet I will never leave her.”

“My soul never shall surface from below

I shall never leave her.

As I walk on land, half sinks below

And I shall never leave her.”

On the final verse of the song, the reason the meaning of the message was revealed. Nombernaught was a ship, but it was also a Drowned city hidden away for 2,000 years until now. It surfaced near the new lands of Izril so that Drowned People would be able to properly lay a claim on some of the new lands. They weren't the only ones to move in to Izril though. A dozen ships of half-elves sailed down just as the city was raising. Their ships contained half-elves from Baleros to Terandria and many nations therein. Even dwarves took the opportunity to move and settle new areas, but they congregated further in the north of Izril all the way in First Landing. There, they also chose to sing a song, this one for marching:

We’ll humor them with quartz and mithril spall

For I know not pyrite’s shine from Grasgil’s pall!

Still I’ll march and laugh for all my days

But when Grandfather calls I’ll march once more

And go back home to stone forevermore.

My grandfather forged a shawl for me to wear

It was made of gems and sixteen span

Ne’er a uglier sight on sea nor land!

It would not break and it would not tear

I gave it to a traveller for them to bear.

Two centuries later I saw it one last time

A Human [Queen] wore it as a shawl

And I laughed all the way out her halls!

Instead of heading to the new lands, the dwarves moved to resettle Dwarfhalls Rest. They also planned on contacting Pelt to get him to join them though first they had to get to their destination.
