tl;dr[edit | edit source]
Tyrion reveals his plans to take Liscor to his inner circle. Olesm comes to the same conclusion after recieving a tip from Magnolia.
Synopsis[edit | edit source]
Erin punches out a dragon, or rather an illusion specialised mage aiming to work for the Players of Celum.
The news about Tremborag’s demise, without any reported great clash of armies, leads the drake strategists to the conclusion that Lord Tyrion won’t engage the goblin army himself but rather try to push them past Liscor or the High Passes through to drake lands. As Olesm informs Zevara, Embria, and Ilvriss. None of them feel too threatened; the strategical advantages of Liscor are too great for a goblin army to overcome. They surmise a drake suppression army will be put together soon enough, depending on the goblin army’s route. Internally Olesm feels that’s not all there is to it. He confirms that the seasonal rainfalls around Liscor are due to stop, and the waters will drain quickly after.
At the human army camp Yitton Byres is invited to Tyrion revealing his plans for the army to his inner circle, and Emperor Laken: to harry the goblins until they reach Liscor before besieging them there with Laken's trebuchets and "accidentally" damage or knock down the city walls. Normally Liscor would be able to withstand magical siege attack and repel any ladders brought forth, trebuchets being a secret of Drake engineers, but with the dozens in human hands, Tyrion is confident to shift the odds. Driving the goblins into the wall to avoid any more fire will allow his army to "rescue" the drake city and thereby take it. This will change the grand strategy at play for the last few hundred years in the ongoing conflict between humans and drakes in favour of the humans.
At Erin's, Olesm meets with Zevara at her invitation in what she hoped might be a date, but ends in a work discussion. She assures him that even with the water around Liscor drained, even at 100,000 strong the goblin army would still not have the numbers to successfully assail Liscor, not before from the Walled Cities would arrive. As they talk a letter arrives for Olesm, sent seemeingly at first by a chess admirer, but in actuality Magnolia Reinhart. Of note is an underscored line: "He has trebuchets." Olesm immediately informs the city council and sets out to messages the Walled Cities to inform them of the changed circumstances.
Greydath of Blades visits the hobgoblins near Liscor under the guise of Greybeard.
