Synopsis edit edit source

Driving away the [World's Eye Theatre] image of Mrsha, Seborn walks through the port town as a [Deckhand] asks him if the projection of the little Gnoll girl was real as he looks at the ship she's on knowing that it was not built with combat in mind. After the events of the Solstice and the death of his team Seborn picked up everything he could carry and left trying to leave his old self behind telling the [Deckhand] that it must've been her imagination.

Seborn speaks with the [Captain] of The Half Mast seeing if he's willing to sell his ship to the Drowned Man, but a quick inspection Seborn finds the ship to be a rigger—a jury-rigged ship that was built with no adherence to any sort of standard or code—telling the [Captain] to give the ship some duly needed maintenance before leaving. This leaves the [Captain] in a sour mood asking one of his [Sailors] what's the Adventurer's deal is with Jord explaining that real sailors are a superstitious sort that adhere to certain rules and that Drowned Folk have codes that [Shipbuilders] are required to build to as their ships need to withstand diving under the ocean. They wonder who that Adventurer is with the [Captain] sharing that the guy's last name is Sailwinds with the sailors there connecting that surname to Therrium, later in the day the group of sailors go out drinking at a tavern where they learn who that Adventurer was.

He was owed a good ship yet every time his father always had to appease someone else, the breaking point was when his older brother got the ship he wanted so Seborn walked off with all of the loot from their latest raid and buried it until he got the ship that he is owed. His elder brother even with his temper was given a ship, his younger brother the Gold-Belled [Swordmaster] became a captain of his own ship, yet Seborn wasn't given a ship and was stuck doing Silver-Rank adventuring after his theft around Izril's shores when Jelaqua and the rest of the Halfseekers came on by to recruit him. He was standoffish at first but once the ball got rolling he joined them for the next ten years through gaining new members, to a betrayal, to getting vengeance, a new start, to a dead [Innkeeper] and more which all seemed like a long dream.

Waking up out of the cheap inn, Seborn gears up and heads out with everyone fearful of the Drowned Man after the incident in that one Drake port city, he looks at the fourteenth ship he tried to purchase unsure of if he even wants to deal with all the troubles managing a crew and a sea-worthy vessel would bring telling the [Merchant] that he'll think on the offer.

He knew that he was chasing after a younger man's dream as Seborn imagines speaking with Jelaqua on what he'll do after getting his ship, Mrsha then appears doing her regular checkups before leaving. He thinks about the other teams that are owed a debt by The Wandering Inn and remembers that provisions are needed as well meeting with a [Fishmonger], snacking on the fish Seborn then thinks on how he'll get a trustworthy crew together getting his interests piqued by a young Half-Elf who's asking all of the [Captains] on the port for travel which they refuse to do. Witnessing the young Half-Elf gets taken aside and then followed by one of the [Sailors], Seborn knocks out and robs the sleazy [Sailor] but is seen leaving the scene of the crime with the Watch Captain of the port town questioning the Downed Man. Doing a bit of misdirection, Seborn escapes from being interrogated further jogging out of the town's gate not being able to purchase that ship any longer.

Five days later, Seborn is looking at a pink pleasure ship from a deceased widow speaking with the [Clerk] in charge of its sale trying to haggle the price when the town's Watch Captain arrive, they received notice of a Drowned Man suspect from Litgren's Bay but as Remdish was questioning Seborn he gets run over by a wagon monologuing throughout the whole ordeal. The next ship he looked at was in poor condition full of black mold and as he was in his room at an inn, images of Mrsha and Nanette appear telling him that the inn has gained some money recently and they're willing to aid him monetarily but he refuses.

As Seborn was walking through approaching the next ship he gets hit with something from behind, he tried to get away but is captured from a magical device called Lawbreaker Orbs made by Eldavin who is selling the thing to anyone who can afford it. He sits in his jail cell while Mrsha speaks with Watch Captain Joffrey about paying the Drowned Man's fines and the truth of the incident with the [Sailor] Seborn beaten up, but as things were going swell for the Gnoll child and her dealings they come to find that Seborn has already escaped his prison.

After learning how to take care of tracking orbs and with his bounty cleared Seborn walks into the port of Treant's Farewell observing that it has become more disorderly with all the changes to the sea routes to those heading for the New Lands. Yet with change comes opportunity to those that see it with a deal being made in front of him, he next sees a Minotaur vessel that's in need of repairs. The leader of the Minotaurs sees Mrsha's apparition appear with Seborn telling her to get lost, knowing that he looked like a complete ass to everyone there he leaves with people there wonder who he is.

He observes a hilltop away a free vessel floating in the water with the remains of a destroyed village infested full of insects, after sending a [Message] to Invrisil's Adventurer's Guild about the state and threat left behind, Seborn stops a [Driver] from heading further in telling her of the dangers. The [Coachwoman] after seeing the danger for herself turns her wagon around and leaves lest she and her cargo attract the bugs to them, midway through the night waiting for the adventuring teams to arrive Mrsha appears to ask if he's alright. Seborn asks Mrsha to grab someone else to scout for him, he informs the Gnoll [Server] on how he should do his search with Ishkr slowly entering the village, Seborn observing his actions and only when he returns does Seborn goes to sleep until the adventuring teams arrives.

Entering a bar in Treant's Farewell, Seborn orders a drink and looks for a seat when the young Half-Elf he met before offers him one, a group of [Storm Sailors] come up to Seborn looking for a fight as it is tradition for them and Drowned Pirates to fight whenever they meet each other. They learn from the Half-Elf that it was Seborn who found the remains of the village of Clinth, Seborn tells them that it was most likely the aftermath of Irurx's attack with the number of bugs crawling over the place. A crowd surrounds the table of the [Storm Sailors] gossiping about who's the most dangerous in the seas to be taken captive under naming a number of infamous people, the talks shift to the legends of [Pirate Lords] and [Pirate Kings] of old and who in living memory is able to fit the heights of those tales. One of the landfolks brings up a tale of someone who made deals with demons and killed an [Admiral] and a [Prince], Seborn and the [Storm Sailors] realize who the landfolk is talking about causing a stir of the tales surrounding Erin. Raising his hand for another drink, Seborn accidentally dumps his entire drink over a man who was talking smack about the Antinium, seeing where this is going, he starts to ready himself for a fight trash-talking back. In his drunken state, Seborn forgets that he's all alone with no team to back him up going for the first swing completely missing hitting his head on the floor.

Waking up Seborn sees that he's been carried onto a ship, the [Captain] of the [Storm Sailors] tells him that he and the Half-Elf were carried over to the ship as he watches Sailors having a brawl with the landfolk, after recovering from passing out again the next day Seborn wants to hire them to take him to Nombernaught. Seeing the dangers of going to the Drowned city they instead find a vessel that Seborn is able to purchase with him being quick about leave as soon as possible, but the Pride of the Wellfar arrives at harbor which is causing their small sea vessel to rock with the waves. Aiming an attack spell at the smaller vessel, the Herald of the Wellfar ship demands that the captain of the ship produce their legal documents and prepare to be boarded with Seborn's head beginning to pound.

Etril apologizes to Seborn for what has to be done but ever since the Night of Bloodtear many have begun to be stricter with their enforcement trying to ferret out any Bloodtear Pirates that'd survived, the Wellfars conscripting the ones that they do find unlike everyone else who just kills them or turn them into slaves. Returning back to his situation, Seborn gets told that he has to register with the Captain's Guild to secure papers if he wants to leave with no leeway for him, with no more time to argue about it Etril leaves as he is more focus on his hunt of Shifthold to end that legend of terror from the seas.

Selling back the ship that he bought and having the crew he hired leave, Seborn in a dower mood contemplating on how destiny and fate had no love for him, after registering at the Captain's Guild Seborn sits in the room he has rented beginning to pray. Not to the Heavens the Free Antinium pray for, nor for any of the Gods, even the God of the Lost as he and his ilk wanted to be found, his faith was for something more than just righteousness which had led him to some miracles, yet his team still died making him stop for the night going to sleep.

Six days later, Seborn enters a hamlet angry that nobody wanted to take him to Nombernaught, unhappy after the death of his team he wonders why it had to be Moore and Ulinde that paid the price unsure if the events that happened during the Solstice was a dream or not pondering if he'll wake up. He passes by Mrsha who seems distracted by something with the face of someone who believes that they're carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders, Seborn snaps at her with her responding that she'll promise to do the right thing.

Sitting in the only pub in Moodfut, Seborn is in an irate mood since there no way for him to hire a ship that's willing to take him down south to Nombernaught, so he decides that he'll make his way to Zeres by land even if it means going through that inn. Outside Seborn sees a ship of beautiful make in the harbor trying to figure out the wood the ship is made out of, the [Lord] who owns the ship tells the Drowned Man how the ship was manufactured which impresses Seborn a bit. He wants to steal the ship from Gilam but his intuition was warning him not to, feeling the ill mood coming from the sailors working under the [Lord] Seborn was leaving when he hears a commotion coming from the beach. An argument between an angry [Fisher] and a familiar Half-Elf was happening over a disagreement in pay for a service done, as the man's hand was reaching over to grab the girl she throws a spell at the [Fisher] hitting him straight in the chest and her throwing up and collapsing due to being mana-overloaded. Paying for the damages Seborn takes the girl to the waters so she can clean herself from her mess, Tissl then asks Seborn if he can help her find the treasure she's been looking for with the Drowned Man begrudgingly accepting in assisting her.

Renting a boat and rowing for two hours Seborn can understand Enlock's point as they travel through tough winds, he learns that Tissl had met the Horns of Hammerad once and that she ran away from home because her mother Disabella prevented her from accomplishing the task given to her by one of the Ghosts. Tissl shares of when the ghost of Captain Etroc came to her family as fellow Half-Elves to pass his legacy onto being left with her to find it, it took her a bit of time to find the location as it has been around 800 years since his time and the man told her where it was by a poem. They find the massive land of clay where the treasure is supposedly buried and begin to dig away, after a bit of talking Seborn actual hits something with his digging claiming that he prayed on it. Opening up the trapped box all they initially find is a bunch of seaweed, Seborn tried to be gentle with Tissl about not being utterly disappointed but as she flick the seaweed over it changes into a beautiful doublet and the stick turning into an Orichalcum blade, her fate changed evermore.

Gilam continues to drink at that pub oblivious of what was just found, and the [Captain] of The Half Mast watches his ship crumble into the seas as Irurx calmly asks for any sightings of Half-Elves in locations smaller than a city, he sets sail towards a location where a girl had been asking about which wasn't far at all.
