Synopsis edit edit source
Lism is having trouble staying in bed with the feeling that something is wrong not being able to pinpoint what it is. Lism thinks over how he still got "it", the rising gossip of another election, his occupational history, his current relationship with Krshia, and the political and demographical landscape of Liscor. He then goes over of how the price of a bag of Yellats have increased significantly, remarking on the increasing amount of gold that is flooding into Liscor's economy. Lism starts to logic his way to an answer coming up with that the gold that coming into Liscor is not circulating through to it citizens, noting that with rising costs more and more people are becoming consumers of Garry's Antinium Edibles. The Drake [Councilmember] continues to ponder the problem of too much gold while in his room.
Ramone sits within the Terland Family estate drinking tea as he internally yammers about Xitegen's overbearing nature. he speaks with Alorelle about the failed attack on the Kraken Eater Tribe while the two hear the hollering of Ulva about having vengeance. Catching the attention of the matriarch, Ramone excuses himself with the task of making sure their finances were in order, making his way to the mercantile wing of the household with the help of a Golem.
Moltin Grousehawk was having a bad day sitting in his office as he looks over eight coins with a creeping suspicion that something is wrong, with Ramone barging into the room Moltin starts to explain his findings to the [Lord]. That from two separate routes of commerce that the exact same shamefaced gold coins came into the Terland coffers, that all of the coins are precisely identical especially with the imperfections showing that someone is somehow producing these coins assuming through some skill-bound method. Ramone brings in other treasurers and [Financiers] as they all start an investigation of their own, finding small amounts here and there it seemed like a minor issue to Moltin until he receives news that the spread of the shamefaced coins is circulating multi-continentally through multiple sources. Meeting with Ulva, Moltin shares the severity of what's occurring and possible avenues they can take to mitigate and take advantage of the collapse of gold. Moltin has a nervous breakdown after a number of separate inspections into different sources of gold, after recovering from a manic episode Moltin shares the plan of action to the [Lords] and [Ladies] of House Terland.
Lism speaks with Krshia and the other councilmembers about Liscor's need for its own currency, Alonna begins to poke holes into his idea naming the "Liscorian Mark" worthless as of now unless he can think of a way to make people want to use it. Another idea of Lism's gets torn apart with loopholes and obvious manipulation. Meeting with [Tax Collector] Geillsten, Lism gains an inkling of an idea about building houses when an [Aide] arrives telling the councilman that Liscor's Army have brought back their spoils and demand a meeting at the moment. Dismissing the amount of wealth brought in, Lism sends the [Aide] away while also giving her a prototype Liscorian Mark for her to purchase something. After helping to get the [Aide] out of jail, Lism and Krshia have a heated argument in public leading to harsh words, they make up with a kiss in a supposedly empty alley making Garry a witness to the lewd act. Seeing the Antinium [Baker] feeding cats, the two councilmembers learn that current market forces are making Garry having to stop accepting new customers, of the distress it causes him to turn down those in need. Even with their offers of additional aid Garry says that there are other barriers that make it untenable to feed the whole city, as the dots connect in Lism's mind does he start to become ecstatic with his new idea bringing the [Baker] with him to the other councilmembers.
The new plan is for Liscor to pay for the building of new houses that are put in a lottery, to also pay for the creation of a new bakery run by Garry that would sell breads of all sorts for the cost of a liscorian mark. Working out a few kinks the councilmembers believe that they have a workable objective to enact upon with Garry mistakenly revealing a secret of the Antinium Hives.
Garry walks in the rain full of overwhelming emotions as he thinks about those of the Chess Club and the ones that remain alive, using Erin's former trick of seeming unimportant he makes his way to Shivertail Plaza to verify the claims made by Lism about the amount of people that are facing trouble getting food with rising costs. He sees Vokkhar and Hickery ordering hamburgers from a stall with the two Gnolls making a stink about the meat used, Garry goes around to meet with a [Butcher] to discuss the current food crisis, and some of the leading reasons why it's occurring. He moves on to Scuttle Street, where many peddle monster parts, he hears from someone selling Shield resin that Celum has become a thriving competitor to Liscor ever since Xitegen's takeover and management of the city. Gary with the two Gnolls see the changes that the golems have brought to the once razed city, talking with some of the locals Garry learns that Riverfarm is one of the bigger producers of grain in the region. That with all of the cities connected through the [Portal Door] it allows the seller's market to take advantage of that accessibility. Garry returns back to his bakery to start making of scaethen dough with his two assistants, the process of making scaethen dough is explained with Garry's experience in making the dough is shared as well.
Runel and the Xevccha test the effects of the scaethen bread, Garry reports on the future bakery being made and requests his queen for more Antinium workers to which she allows a few hundred for the project. Garry makes his way through the Floodplains to the hill where the Antinium were allowed to start their farming project meeting with the Antinium [Farmers]. Speaking with Farmer Twelve, Garry learns that they have been taught the bare minimum and decides to change that by meeting with known professionals of the field. First with Shassa, she tells Garry some basic info and with a little food bribery does she go out to send out some messages to some experts from Oteslia. Going to The Wandering Inn, Garry meets with Viceria to get her expertise and help on their farming situation, setting things in motion Garry leaves Farmer Twelve to continue on with his farming as the [Baker] goes back to making scaethen dough.
Yelroan reads the headline of the newspaper that reveals the Terland's new currency and seeing that his projections were off for some reason feels that something is wrong. He knows that however much gold they introduced into the market shouldn't have enough of an effect to affect the Terland household. Redoing some calculations Yelroan charts a list of events that is increasing exponentially.
Lism gloats at Krshia for being correct about his worries about the economic situation with the news of the new Terland currency, with the city-ran bakery and the new elections being announced today, Lism and Krshia go to meet with the rest of the council speaking with a citizen on the way about the designs of the liscorian marks. Once they've all gathered the councilmembers go over Liscor's new currency and travel to Garry's new bakery to eat Yellat bread to demonstrate to their citizens the importance of it. Meeting with Watch Commander Venim the council receives news that the Antinium Hives are minting their own coins with the new gold mine they've recently unearthed. Everything seems to be aiding in the effort of the liscorian mark to all their ears, unsure of how Lism suspects the Wandering inn of somehow having something to do with it.
Yelroan in the [Garden of Sanctuary] with the [Box of Incontinuity] as it continuously creates shamefaced gold coins as they read the news of new sources of large amounts of gold and new currencies appearing all throughout the world. They now know of a third rule of the box; that theoretically whatever is put inside the box loses its value in some way with effects increasing with time. Tossing the original coin onto the pile of coins does Yelroan ask what would happen if they put a healing potion in the box.
