Octavia's antibiotic (now named Occilium) proves to be effective at fighting Yellow Rivers in Zeres. Lyonette removes her boon from Octavia and gives it to Numbtongue instead. Ferris continues to fail in his attempt to get Erin to visit the Walled City of Manus. Gresaria Wellfar, [Harbormistress] of First Landing, shows up in a chariot and attacks Maviola, as a way to say goodbye to her. Az'kerash trains his Chosen by having them practice attacking Belavierr. Upset at their failures and Toren's success, they bully Toren and beat him until he nearly dies. Toren hides, and meets the Healing Slime, bonding over their mutual fear of their captors.
