Chapter 10.49 Y is the 109th chapter of Volume 10, the Y stands for Yvlon Byres.

  • The Horns of Hammerad arrive at Nerrhavia's Fallen capital city Tyrant’s Rest to much applause and fanfare, Yvlon ignores everything and introduces herself to Yisame.
  • During Breakfast, Yisame makes Pisces flee from embarrassment from her advancement planning to have a night with him but Yvlon blatantly tells her to not bother her teammate.
  • Yvlon speaks with Etrikah about the two Relic-class Rings she has seeing that their true potential haven't been found out yet.
  • Walking on the streets of the city Yvlon and Ceria are given a pile of letters by a bunch of runners, the Horns begin to read their mail with Yvlon receiving a dismal letter from her father.
  • The team enter the Coliseum of Monarchs where they see Mectail, Vitte and Thexca fend off against The Champion Gladiator Lenxiol, Yvlon attacks the magical barrier but is repelled back.
  • Nawalishifra tries out a number of ideas to upgrade Yvlon's arms, in doing so the [Smith] finds a path she can take with the elegant metal.
  • In the Court of Silks, Yvlon has a frank conversation with Cognita Truestone about the reason people call her a 'woman of metal' and the problem that come with a long life.
  • Yvlon begins to daydream about a memory with Berr who speaks on the obligation those with high-levels have to push on matters they have convictions about.

Many people have been using time capsules flying at the speed of light to escape the limits of death waking up time to time to ask for recent advancements, it has been nearly 89 stellar cycles since Paethex met that strange woman and obtained The Stick which had won the Federation of Myriad Worlds the war against the Exosiarc Empire. Paethex maintains power over The Stick as it has too much power to let to go into another's hands with her second in command telling her that they have found Humans but the timing is off by 500 years by what Ryoka told them of her world, nonetheless they fly out to visit the world of their benefactor.

Yvlon misses her teacher Berr as she flies through the skies of Chandrar thinking about how much of a better teacher he was compared to all the instructors she had during her youth, it's been a few days past the cracking of the Green Moon with them receive not much from Lyonette other than a message saying that all is well leaving them not being able to do much a continent away. Yvlon looks at the other members of their ride as they fly towards Tyrant’s Rest before returning back to talking to herself, Pisces himself is jittery to make his way back to Izril but knows that he has promises that he needs to keep in Chandrar nervous of the being of pure undeath he sensed for a time. Yvlon was comparing her lacking gear and items compared to her teammates' as they finally reached the capital city with Buler presenting it to them and Colth giving everyone the run down on how they will act to maintain being a neutral party, Cloth has to hammer it into Yvlon's head that they have a goal to accomplish and becoming entangled into the country's politics would do them no good.

The [Herald] announces the arrival of the Horns to much fanfare with the team and others brought along completely overwhelmed by the sight, Yvlon ignores everything and approaches the throne were [Queen] Yisame sits introducing herself. After getting no response by the [Queen] Yvlon makes her way back to her team, Buler thought that what the Silver Killer did was great to upstage the distracting show that was trying to make them seem lesser as he says his goodbyes to the team. In their rooms, Colth takes Yvlon to task about how little tact and awareness she has but their door is suddenly opened with Yisame and Etrikah on the other side. They enter to have a private meeting where they discuss that not everything is how it seems with the Horns having many detractors and how they should go about completing their goals, Yvlon tears away at dancing around the topic of Earthers with the introduction of Elena as it's known to all of them that they are a thing. While everyone was talking about who to investigate and all that, Yvlon was about to make her way to find the [Gladiators] on her own before her team had to hold her back from leaving the room.

The next day, everyone was having breakfast with Yisame who begin asking the Horns for their stories with Pisces being her first target, the [Necromancer] departs completely embarrassed by the [Queen]'s physical contact with Ceria and Colth following him out leaving only Yisame and Yvlon there alone. Yisame asks further details into Pisces's love life getting a completely different picture to the one she has in her head, seeing the opportunity Yisame orders the readying of a room for her and Pisces to spend the night but Yvlon makes it clear to the [Queen] that she is to not bother Pisces bruising her in the process. After being made sure that she was understood Yvlon apologizes for her outburst with Yisame leaving in a rage back to her royal chambers.

Yvlon thinks over her feelings remembering the sole time she let her fury out after her lessons with Berr, she holds onto the Ring of Waterbreathing recalling Ksmvr giving it to her as they both were deep underwater while in Etrikah's workshop. Etrikah dismisses Yvlon worries about the [Queen]'s reactions as she can't be flagrant as her position is quite shaky at the moment, moving on they discuss the two Relic-class Artifacts with Yvlon sharing of the times when they helped her out of a pinch. Etrikah can see that Yvlon hasn't figure out the manner to bring out the true potential of the two rings and begins testing, they don't find much within two hours of experimentation with Yvlon leaving as Elena arrives for her appointed time.

Yvlon was walking the streets of Tyrant's Rest but was pressed by the numerous citizens blocking her way until Ceria rescues her from the horde of people, Ceria talks about her time at the Academy of a Hundred Thousand Tomes while Yvlon plans to covertly go to the Coliseum of Monarchs before a group of runners run up to them bringing with them a pile of letters. Not wanting to pay the fees to have their mail sorted through the two bring the letters back with them finding Pisces and Colth going through a pile of their own, they go through the mail they have with Yvlon receiving a letter from her father Yitton who asks her to advertise the Byres Family Silversteel and for more monetary support. Colth tears up the letter leaving Yvlon feeling mixed about how she should move forwards with the relationship with her house, Ceria in turn has gotten a letter claiming to be from Tserre but considers it a scam, tired of the letters Ceria decides to have everyone go to the Coliseum with Elena giving them all a makeover.

Elena has changed the group into convincing String People as they wait in line to get into the Coliseum of Monarchs, finding their seat they catch sight of the last bout between a pair of Manticores and new [Gladiators]. Colth goes into how most of the Named-Rank Adventurers he knows came to the Coliseums for a time with them having a poor showing unlike Yvlon's run at it, they hear from a pair teenagers nearby about how the Coliseum been treating The Traitorous Three—Mectail, Thexca, and Vitte—and how the Silver Killer will be fighting soon to rescue her comrades. The [Announcer] presents the next fight—between Manticores, prisoners of war from enemy nations, and regular [Gladiators]—with Colth holding Yvlon back from jumping in as Lenxiol makes his appearance by killing the survivor of the last match. The match ensues with the [Soldiers] creating their defensive fort, the Traitorous Three joining the [Soldiers] fending off what comes at them and Lenxiol throwing out his weapons, the battle shifts when the [Officer] leading the [Soldiers] dies from poison from a gift from the Silk stands. This causes an uproar from the audience below until someone from the Silk stands throws down a potion that erupts into a miniature fireball into the crowd, in the chaos Lenxiol finds an opening and is able to capture Vitte.

Up in the Silk stands [Manager] Bnirm orders Lenxiol to take a limb off but the [Gladiator] doesn't recognizes what the hand-gesture means, then someone impersonating the Silver Killer blurts out obvious propaganda ribbing against the [Queen] but is thrown across the bleachers by Yvlon. She then leaps forwards a bit too far slashing at the magical barrier but is bounced back, Yvlon throws another punch at the barrier which causes it to ripple but in turn she receives major pain to her arm. The rest of the Horns grab Yvlon and run back towards the palace while the [Barrier Magi] tells Bnirm of the effects of the Silver Killer's blow, the Horns arrive at the room to see the damage only finding a stump on Yvlon's arm rather than a complete vaporization.

Yvlon is taken to a private forge in the royal wing where Nawalishifra does what she can to upgrade her metallic arms, after a bloody incident the two talk about how her arms function and slowly goes through ideas to see what works. The two—after an awkward moment—chat about the sin Pelt and the other Dwarven [Smiths] caused finding out it was due to them forging a batch of flawed metal that was used for architecture that later led to a structural failure killing many. Nawal finds a way to add the Mithril-Adamantium mixture to Yvlon's arms but she soon loses the ability to move the metal in her arm once it has cooled, after a bit more testing Nawal can see that the Silversteel metal in Yvlon's arms is something more than just the base alloy but a metal that can transition between a liquid and solid form. Nawal sees a path that she can follow in this different kind of metal needing to find some oresect beetles for further understanding.

In the Court of Silks, Yvlon faces against [Ladies] looking for a weakness while Ceria speaks with Zenol about what is owed to him after the Village of the Dead raid before [Prince] Esceit interrupts their conversation, the Half-Elf is able to pull one over the [Prince] but stumbles after seeing the sight of Cognita and Barelle entering the room. Seeing that her captain is agitated, Yvlon walks up to Cognita introducing herself which lowers the Truestone Golem's opinion of her, Yvlon then asks for the reason Cognita and others have called her a 'woman of metal' hearing that it's just a title for those that have forsaken flesh for artificial materials. Observing Yvlon's reaction Cognita states that it would be wise to fear advancing the path of becoming a being of superior metal as she would face the agony of outliving her team, Yvlon can only smile to that ending considering it a blessing if they made it that far. Cognita tries to express the severity that a long life would entail but Yvlon replies back that all her teammates have ways to live a long life as well especially her Antinium comrade, Cognita sees that she has become jealous and decides to take interest in her outcome, after Yvlon leaves Barelle arrives in the gardens wondering about the conversation she had with Cognita calculating how the story of Yvlon Byres would end finding it unexpected.

Returning to their rooms, the Horns chatter about all the things that happened that day and discuss what they'll do tomorrow, Yvlon begins to daydream of a memory with Berr who after a bout of sparring asks her about her childhood and if she had any loving interactions with her father. He then speaks that before the Meeting of the Tribes turned to war that his Chieftain Perale was uncertain on which side to choose until Berr forced an ultimatum on him out in public, the moral of that story was that high-level individuals have the obligation to push on matter on what they believe wholeheartedly are right, to live with the consequences and to do the same for those you believe in.

Yvlon slips out of their rooms with Pisces following her to Etrikah's door and after getting let in the [Great Sage's] room she starts testing her theory attacking the barriers Pisces summons, they come to find out that her [Aspect of Silver] skill gives her the magical dispelling effects that pure silver has. Knowing that his teammate was going to do something crazy Pisces expresses that he's on her side against their other teammates in whatever she plans on doing, after a bit of talking Yvlon conveys that the reason for her actions in Nerrhavia's Fallen is because she is trying to follow her own sense of conviction.

The two leave Etrikah's room making their way for the morning exhibition with Colth and the rest of the team out searching for their missing team members, Elena finds the two of them at the Coliseum of Monarchs with the [Announcer] letting Lenxiol speak his piece. Yvlon—given a speaking stone of her own—proclaims Lenxiol a coward and challenges Bnirm and his Coliseum, she then shoots herself straight at the magical barrier but this time she plunges straight through and when she landed starts charging at the Champion and sixty other [Gladiators].
