Inn Family[edit | edit source]

Lyonette du Marquin[edit | edit source]

Erin and Lyonette share a close familial relationship, each being aware of the other's secret identity as an Earther and [Princess] respectively. While Erin is technically the "boss," Lyonette is responsible for the day-to-day management, as well as the technical and business aspects of the inn.

Their first encounter was when Erin saved Lyonette from the freezing cold after the latter's exile from Liscor, hiring her as a [Barmaid] for The Wandering Inn. However their relationship started off rocky as Lyonette considered Erin to be beneath her station, while Erin viewed Lyonette as a brat. Furthermore, Erin foists Lyonette onto Toren for training, who unbeknowst to the [Innkeeper], physically abuses Lyonette.[1]

However, when Erin is stranded in Celum, Lyonette is left alone in the inn, low on supplies in the middle of winter. Faced with starvation, Lyonette is forced to mature and adapt, and begins managing The Wandering Inn in Erin's absence, while also taking care of Mrsha.[2] While Erin is initially dismissive of Lyonette's accomplishments, Zel Shivertail forces her to recognize Lyonette's changes for the better,[3] and they develop a closer and friendlier working relationship.

Soon though, Lyonette begins to feel stifled as Erin refuses to listen to her ideas, and also hires two Human [Barmaids] from Celum, Safry and Maran, who bully the [Princess].[4] Though Ryoka, Pisces, and some of the guests helped expose the [Barmaids'] true colors, Erin wished Toren would come back, causing Lyonette to yell at the [Innkeeper], revealing the torment she endured under the skeleton's tutelage.[5] After their reconciliation, Lyonette takes over some of the inn's responsibilities, effectively becoming its manager.

When Erin was preserved in ice, Lyonette went on a journey with Saliss to Ostelia to find a way to revive her. She left Mrsha behind in Liscor. Despite many people thinking she's on a fool's errand, she was determined that Erin was not gone. She would find away to bring Erin and The Wandering Inn back to life. With Erin's revival Lyonette continued to run the Inn.

Mrsha[edit | edit source]

Erin cares about Mrsha as a ward after Ryoka dropped her off at her inn. Although Mrsha considers Lyonette as her mother, Erin is the crazy aunt or grandmother in the Wandering Inn family. Through many trials and slice of life wonders together, Mrsha has grown from the scared, quiet and wary kid to an outgoing character that has absorbed much of Erin's out of the box thinking.

Numbtongue[edit | edit source]

She and Numbtongue do not have a parent-child relationship, though Erin is the "leader" of the Inn. Unlike Bird and Mrsha, Erin gives a significant amount of deference to Numbtongue's independence, and allows him to generally do whatever he likes. The closest analogue to a traditional family relationship would be that of a cousin, albeit living in the same household.

As time went on though, it became clear that Numbtongue's feelings were not quite in the same vein as Erin's. He developed romantic affection for her and eventually even confessed his love, but Erin turned him down stating that she didn't want to ruin what they had.[6]

Bird[edit | edit source]

Erin considers Bird a surrogate child mainly due to his perceived immaturity, and his practically abandoning the Free Hive to be with her. Due to this, while she normally defers to Lyonette to authority when it comes to Mrsha most of the time, she mostly doesn’t do the same with Bird.

Nanette Weishart[edit | edit source]

Nanette was entrusted to Erin by her mother, Califor Weishart, to take care of her. She would give Erin some perspective on being a [Witch] as she lived her whole life as one previously.

Ulvama[edit | edit source]

She became a surprising new friend to Erin after Erin was recovering. She introduced a new source of self love, dancing, to help Erin exercise her and regain the strength in her legs. Erin found a new equal relationship with Ulvama that she doesn't really have with other people so far. Erin is then kind of taken under Ulvama's wing especially in terms of intimate relationships. She would confide in Ulvama her thoughts and worries about love and sex. They both proceed to observe using Erin's [Garden of Sanctuary], the developing romantic encounters of Erin's various guests within her inn with Ulvama dropping some best practice advice.

Inn’s Employees[edit | edit source]

Ishkr Silverfang[edit | edit source]

Ishkr works as a server and waiter in the Wandering Inn. He loves his the place he works and is a highly skilled worker. So skilled was he that other [Innkeepers] wanted to poach him but he loves Erin, his boss and what she did to the Wandering Inn. When Erin was on ice, he stayed behind in the closed inn to make sure it would be ready to be filled with guests when Erin comes back.

Magnolia Reinhart[edit | edit source]

While she didn’t consider her an enemy normally, Magnolia acted in her own self interests which often ran counter to Erin's. Magnolia used Erin's door to get to Pallass and reveal the Free Antinium’s true capabilities.[7] She also put a tax on her door, even though it gave her money, it was something that Erin was against in the extreme. These concurrent actions along with the actions of Pryde and other ladies on Magnolia’s side, would leave Erin antagonistic to Magnolia. So much that Erin would nearly use Pelt to forge a weapon in likeness to a gods gift to kill her.

Later, Erin saved the lords Magnolia was punishing with her Trade Embargo. Erin used her door to establish free trade between them, Liscor, Esthelm, Celum, and Pallass. After her return from death Erin changed her attitude on Magnolia and even sought her advice.

Maviola El[edit | edit source]

Maviola served as a skills mentor for Erin's [Like Fire, Like Memory] skill as she was the first person that skill existed for. Later on, she also helped Erin tremendously in the Land of the Dead to help her survive long enough to get help.

Altestiel[edit | edit source]

The first important person to obviously and outwardly show romantic interest to Erin herself that she can't look away from. He fell in love with her prowess in chess and then in her charismatic actions within her inn when he came to see her for the first time.

Ilvriss Gemscale[edit | edit source]

Both she & Ilvriss retain a healthy amount of respect for each other. While Ilvriss was initially frustrated with her antics and her continued lack of respect, he ultimately grew to appreciate it, gaining unfiltered views of someone who he could consider his friend. While Erin treats their relationship casually, Ilvriss treats it more formally after Volume 6. This comes with a healthy amount of respect thanks to her ability to seemingly do the impossible. He even treats her as a teacher in certain situations, using her as inspiration to decide his next actions.

It’s also later revealed that Ilvriss had unresolved romantic/sexual feelings and inclinations towards Erin. Something that surprised him, but ultimately made sense.[8]

Olesm[edit | edit source]

He carried a hidden love for Erin due to everything she had did for him and from the many hours of playing chess together. However, as part of the higher up that barred the way for the goblins into Liscor from Tyrion's army for shelter, she and Olesm grew some distance. They are good friends but his responsibilities to the city of Liscor superseeds personal feelings which can cause some issues.

Niers[edit | edit source]

Enemies[edit | edit source]

Dead Gods[edit | edit source]

She swore a debt of vengeance against them for killing all the ghosts they had once sworn to protect. She also warned that the next time they faced she would kill all of them. And she plans to honor that promise.

Slavers of Roshal[edit | edit source]

She didn't like slavers like the Slavers of Roshal on principal, but after she befriended Elucina, the Rebel of String,[9] and learned from Cawe what had happened to her and Pisces, she now actively loathed them. Her dislike for them is so strong that even with the Dead Gods as the enemy of all, she didn't seek their ghosts for help,[10] and actively considers them enemies.[11] She had even plotted with Elucina and those who hate slavery to have Khelt takes up arms against Roshal.[12]

One mark that shows that she has no trust or friendship towards them is when she used Laedonius Deviy's Horn to call to arms every ghost she considered a friend, which was almost everyone in the Land of the Dead, except the Slavers of Roshal who heard nothing.[13]

She was kidnapped by the Slavers of Roshal along with Ulvama at the Winter Solstice.

Others[edit | edit source]

Toren[edit | edit source]

It's complicated. Toren is a newly sentient skeleton. However, Erin, his master, did not know and thinks he is an advanced robot. This caused a lot of building up of negative feelings in Toren. This led to him abandoning Erin in the middle of the wilderness and left to do what he wants. After much learning, he eventually realised that he actually loves Erin who he figured out is his mother in his newly sentient life. He wanted her acceptence and care but Erin did not provide it. In his last act towards her, he tried to kill her but after realising he wanted her to love him, he killed himself in front of her. This was understandably a very traumatic event for Erin who finally realised that Toren was a thinking, feeling being who she had treated as an untiring, unthinking robot that does a lot of the tedius chores in the inn 24/7. And this person who was basically a child, killed himself in front of her. So she feels a complicated bundle of emotions for him, fear, horror and guilt.[citation needed]

Larracel Delais[edit | edit source]

A fellow high level [Innkeeper]. However, she and Erin has almost opposite perspective on innkeeping. Erin wants all her guests to be happy and have joy while for Larracel, she only operates her inn for a precious few people she is close to. Their relationship seems to be that they find each other interesting but that is all.[citation needed]

Chaldion Oliwing[edit | edit source]

Nerrhavia (Queen)[edit | edit source]

She is the tyrant of a country and uses slaves, someone that Erin is opposed to. However, she is honestly pretty helpful to Erin and served as mentor that Erin reluctantly accepts the teaching off to fight off the greater for to their existence. [citation needed]

Xrn[edit | edit source]

Flos Reimarch[edit | edit source]

Gazi Pathseeker[edit | edit source]

Persua Alcherie Mavva[edit | edit source]

Erin has currently not yet met with Persua, but she should know at least from both Ryoka and Garia what an awful person Persua really is from her leading into breaking Ryoka leg, to bulling Garia.

In an Alternate Reality of What If Persua and Ryoka were friends, Erin and Persua didn’t really like each other, but from the start Erin used her subtle manipulation to meddle with Persua and Ryoka's unstable relationship so that they genuinely befriend and care for each other.[14]
