Synopsis[edit | edit source]
Redscar dismisses the words that come from the voice above and of the many platitudes they young and prideful have to say about themselves. It says that Redscar has surpassed Garen Redfang, but he knowns within himself that he has not eclipsed his father. Redscar knows that he cannot idolize his father for he had many faults and that it would put a false image of him in his mind.
Redscar starts to admonish himself for leaving the battlefield and the goblins at Goblinhome on their own for the time being for he feels that there's a battle waiting for him somewhere else, at The Wandering Inn. As Redscar enters the inn he gets interrupted by Pallassian agents trying to get information out of him, but Redscar swiftly ignores them and saunters on into the [Palace of Fates]. Redscar recognizes that there are other beings that are stronger than him such as Rhisveri, Pawn (Bishop) and the Rhirian [Hero] Triander, but Redscar has a plan in mind. Asking the palace for the smartest goblin it lead Redscar to Asgra which he then asks her if she knows where Mrsha hid the roots. Asgra doesn't know know but she deduces that it must be in one of the other gardens, but with so many gardens to look through Asgra begs Apista for the information. Apista agrees to give one of the roots to Redscar, as the three walk Asgra tries to make small talk but Redscar shuts it down as he views himself as a warrior who fights battles and dies, nothing more. The three enter Redscar's version of the palace hallways which depict cave walls with finger paintings of symbols that have meaning to Redscar. Redscar faces a door that has Thunderfur on it, he then notes that the palace is a silly place that hurts people so. As they continue onwards Asgra is in disbelief that Redscar is able to converse and understand what Apista is saying, Redscar says that he is able to hear the voice of her heart. What Redscar didn't think about was that the ability to read the heart was a two-way street with Apista being able to read his as well. Asgra tries to hug Redscar after being told what his heart shares from Apista, after tossing them aside they've reached the door Redscar has been looking for, the door that could level him up the most.
Redscar finds himself at the start of the <Heroic Quest – Zeladona’s Trial of a Thousand Blades!>. As the contestants get ready Typhenous gets ambushed from behind and Facecarver Riz nearly gets hit a well. Typhenous gets back up and teams up with Riz to combat the ambusher who is revealed to be Redscar wearing a box with eye holes, removing the poor disguise Redscar challenges all and claims that he'll win this time. After besting the two faces, Tyrion Veltras makes note of the speed of battles the goblin been having yet to his shock he determines the goblin's level to being above 40 but not yet a Goblin Lord. Redscar lists all of the remaining opponents and is in joy of the opportunity, Redscar then confronts his younger self and as they cross blades Younger Redscar starts to get agitated with the way his older self is fighting him. As Younger Redscar loses the exchange Redscar offers another battle since he is close to understanding, being refused Redscar goes on to his next opponent to show his younger self what he has learned. As Tyrion faces against Redscar he is shown visions of beings of whom Redscar has striven against, visions of death, and retreats. As Redscar maintains his position, Lulv and Zeter team together against the goblin in order to take him down to prove that a mere goblin can't be equal to them nor that there was even a chance of them being behind in skill. The two opposing forces were pushing back and forth until in a final confrontation Redscar was able to overcome the two but not without injuries. As Redscar thinks about how imperfect he still is Eldavin comes up and challenges him, Redscar sees that Eldavin is nothing but a shell of the Dragonlord with all the mastery but none of the experience. With knowledge from the previous trial Redscar was able to best Eldavin in a battle of blades, Eldavin asks for a rematch yet becomes weary of Redscar's attitude. Eldavin uses [Greater Appraisal] and see that Redscar is a level 49 [Blademaster of the Crimson Battlefield].
Redscar proceeds to cross blades with many other opponents such as Klbkch, Tekshia, Embria, and his favorite challenger being Relc. His next adversary is one of the most dangerous Redscar has faced, for Comois had the best skills and had no mercy nor respect for his foes. Yet with perfection comes predictability, with that notion in mind Redscar was able to see that all Comois was were his skills, and skills were just a way to give one abilities they shouldn't have. In a small moment of enlightenment Redscar accidentally killed Comois and just as the original trial whisked away Halrac for his transgression so to was Redscar taken away.
Redscar finds himself in an inscribed barrier within a circular room that contain text that covers the walls which contained so much power. Redscar comes to find out that Halrac is also stuck in the same barrier in a state of confusion as they both state that they were the one to kill Comois. Knowing that in the alternate timeline Halrac wouldn't have been able to kill Comois Redscar realizes that he is next to the real Halrac, that the two of them have gone to a place outside of time and space. After explaining everything to Halrac, Halrac with clear disbelief yet begrudging acknowledgement of the possibility of it being the truth accepts what is being told to him. Following a bit of fooling around Redscar tells Halrac about the future, about his death and the other who've died, about the fight at the Winter Solstice to Erin being kidnaped by Roshal to the Night of Bloodtear. Halrac becomes infuriated at them for allowing Mrsha to muck about with the [Palace of Fates] but Redscar dismisses it because it is something that matters. To figure a way out of their confinement the two go through what's inside Redscar's bag of holding. There's a number of things such as a moldy sandwich, a bunch of blade oil and a root, the same root used to breach through skills. After getting out the two discuss their surroundings and Halrac concludes that they're in the Heart of the System. Then they go on to talk about the numerous towers around them ranging from 300 to under 900 feet in height, the largest being covered in dragon scales and draconic writings. As they observe the other towers they see some with poor constructions while others show signs of being created with those with no hands, by monsters and the like. Halrac comes to the conclusion that the building of these towers were a test of some sort for some of the species when they were young and desperate. Redscar was feeling on edge for not getting a clear answer on how Halrac knows these things but after seeing a tower made by golems, all Redscar could see was uncertainty, desperation and sacrifice. Looking closer at some of the towers they could identify some text that says the species has passed the test, the test to gain the ability to level. That this test is for newer species since there are no towers that can be deduced to be of human, dwarven, or half-elven making. Redscar remarks that he has pissed again and they find out that they have regained their bodily functions and are now on a time limit to figure out what they are going to do. With getting the arrowhead in mind Halrac starts to scrape at the golden runes but in doing so Halrac had torn a hole through the system into everything. As they are about to jump into the hole Redscar tries in desperation to change Halrac's fate, Halrac stops him and ask for his help in finding a fate where he survives using the [Palace of Fates]. Find so few fates in where Halrac survives Redscar tries to take Halrac to his time, but knowing his death has lasting effects for the future Halrac knows that he can't run away. Redscar can see in Halrac's eyes that he is a man ready to face death, after giving a firm handshake and a message to Mrsha and the others Halrac jumps into the hole of everything with a smile and laughter on his face. Following in his footsteps Redscar too jumps into the hole passing through countless worlds trying to find their way back. Falling through the void Redscar notices two beings chasing after the each of them, it being the Grand Design of Isthekenous. After being caught by the Grand Design, Halrac is being taken away to his fate while Redscar is being judged by the alternate reality's version of Zeladona who decides that she wants to meet him. Returning to the battlefield he just left, Redscar in dismay salutes Halrac before he heads onwards to meet the host of the trials of blades.
Zeladona has the power to split the sky for she herself was a blade. The power to cut any number of forces yet she does not for they do not merit her attention. She asks Redscar how he was able to escape the ruling her quest had. He doesn't answer the question and gainsays her and that she doesn't care about that rule. She snaps back that it was the rule that was set and her aura starts to cut into Redscar which gives him a better understanding of who Zeladona is. A lonely sword with the ability to cut anything with nothing more to cut. Zeladona admonishes Redscar for the tears she sees fall down his face and only after the battle may one mourn. With Halrac in his mind Redscar tells Zeladona to be his teacher to which she accepts. Then the battle commences.
In the aftermath of the fight Zeladona remarks that if she had meet Redscar's kind that she might have reached the next stage of her path. Redscar ask her about her end and how lonely it must have been. Zeladona affirms that her end was lonely, but that there was nothing worthy for her to raise her blade any longer. Redscar tells Zeladona about the [Palace of Fates] and the many battles that awaits her, before they go she gives Redscar the privilege to take on her last name, Ischen, and reformed his blade into adamantine. Redscar then acknowledges his loss which completes the quest, with shock on her face Zeladona gets ready to strike at Redscar before he then taunts her to cut herself free first to prove she has a right to the palace. With her final cut failing to free her Zeladona vanishes and Erin returns to whine about all the pain she is feeling.
Redscar exits the doorway and calls for a wyvern to head back to Goblinhome. As he falls asleep he hears the question of if he's a goblin lord or not, he answers with until Rags is one as well.
